3. Number of Admissions (Supernumerary Application)


The available number of supernumerary seats shall be given on the basis of academic
achievement

4. Eligibility for Application


 International Applicants who meet requirements 1) or 2) before or upon university
enrollment are eligible to apply. However, unusual cases and an applicant’s
individual circumstances will be given consideration by the admissions committee.

A. Undergraduate Freshman Applicants


1) Students who will have graduated high school prior to university enrollment and
whose parents are both foreign nationals
2) Students of Korean origin who have received their entire primary and secondary
(elementary, junior high and high school) education outside of Korea.

B. Undergraduate Transfer Applicants


1) Students whose parents are both foreign nationals and who have completed at
least two years of a degree program at a four-year university (or completed
college degree program).
2) Students of Korean origin who have received their entire elementary, middle
school, high school, and at least two years of university education at a four-year
university (or college degree program) outside of Korea.
※ Students must have completed at least 50% of their previous program’s credits to
qualify as a transfer student.

C. Master’s(or Combined Master’s & Doctoral) Program Applicants


1) Students whose parents are both foreign nationals and who hold a Bachelor’s
degree, or who are considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable
intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher
degree
2) Students of Korean origin who have received their entire elementary, junior high,
high school, and undergraduate education outside of Korea at an equivalent level
institution.

D. Doctoral Program Applicants
1) Students whose parents are both foreign nationals and who hold a Master’s
degree or who are considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable
intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher
degree
2) Students of Korean origin who have received their entire elementary, junior high,
high school, undergraduate and graduate education outside of Korea at an
equivalent level institution or who are considered by the admission committee to
have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an
equivalent or higher degree.

 Language Proficiency Requirement

1) Programs offered in Korean: Students must have received a TOPIK Level 3.


2) Programs offered in English: Students must have received a TOEFL iBT score of
80 or higher, or an equivalent score of an officially recognized English
Proficiency Test. (See below)

※ Only the applicants for the College of Art & Design or Programs & Majors in Graduate
School of Art  Graduate School of Engineering will be the exception of the language
proficiency requirement.
※ Applicants for Creative Writing are required TOPIK Level 6.
※ Official Language Certificate should be submitted by application deadline.
※ Students who do not meet the minimum requirements for Korean proficiency may be
granted conditional admission. If granted conditional admission, the student will be
required to enroll in a Korean language program and to receive a TOPIK Level 3 within a
year. The Language program registration confirmation should be submitted after paying the
tuition fee.

5. Application Submission
A. Application

1) Application form is available at ([Link]


Application documents should be sent by post or submitted in person.
2) The deadline for applications is 4:00 pm of May 29(Thu), 2014. Applications are only
processed after application fees are paid in full.
3) Applicants whose forms and supporting documents are incomplete or unsatisfactory
will be disqualified from the admissions process.

B. Submission of Required Documents

1) Please arrange the application materials in the order listed in pages 6 to 7.

 Official certificates (transcripts, diplomas, etc) issued by schools abroad


should be verified via Apostille agent or certified by the Korean Embassy
located in foreign countries.
 Original documents should be submitted. Should they be unavailable,
however, copies must be authorized by the originating institution before they
are submitted.
 Documents that are not in Korean or English must be accompanied by a
notarized English translation. Please submit the original document as well.

2) Send your application packet via post or visit in person by 16:00 KST(Korean
Standard Time), May 29, 2014 along with the required documents to the following
address.

 Required documents should be submitted in the same order listed in pages 6 to 7.


 Whether documents have arrived or not can be checked via e-mail.
 An enclosed letter of recommendation in the packet is permissible.
 All the documents should be arrived by its deadline(except Sat, Sun, and legal
holiday).

3) The admissions staff reserves the right to require additional documents from the
applicant, should a need arise to verify the authenticity of submitted materials.

D. Supplementary Materials

1) Applicants to undergraduate programs

Records of tests and various awards attained in high school will be considered in the
admissions decision if submitted.
 The relevant country’s qualifying test for high school graduation or university
admission test: British GCE A-Level, Japanese Admission Center Exam, Chinese
Unified Exam, German Abitur, French Baccalaureate, etc.
 Standardized tests and other indicators of academic achievement: IB Diploma, IB
Certificate, AP, SAT, AICE, AEA, etc. (Only the documents achieved before May
of 2014 is acceptable.)
 Records of accelerated and rigorous coursework: AP, IB, Honors, etc. (Only the
documents achieved before May of 2014 is acceptable.)
 Official letter or other document by the high school that indicates the applicant’ s
class rank or percentile (if not stated in applicant’s academic transcript)
 Proof of language proficiency: HSK, JLPT, DELF, ZD, DELE etc.
 Official school introduction/profile(s) published by the applicant’s high school or
the government education ministry will be considered in the admissions decision.
The introductory document may include information on the high school’s
curriculum, availability of accelerated and rigorous academic tracks, size of
student body, grade distribution of enrolled students, distribution of standardized
test performance, student selection process (admissions requirements, etc.), ratio
of students entering higher institutions and the quality of relevant institutions.

2) Applicants to graduate programs

 Proof of language proficiency such as HSK, JLPT, DELF, ZD etc.


 Academic awards, certificates, test reports (GRE, GMAT, etc.)

outside of Korea.
※ Those who are accepted to the university should submit a chest X-ray certificate for
tuberculosis screening.
- A chest X-ray certificate must be less than two months old at the time of move-in.
- The certificate should be submitted three weeks before moving into dormitory.
- The certificate should be in English or Korean. Certificate in another language should be
accompanied by a notarized English translation.

6. Admissions Criteria
Admissions decisions are based on the candidates’ academic achievements, potential, his or
her personal accomplishments as well as interviews. However, applicants staying abroad may
possibly be exempted from interviews. (Interviews may be required by telephone as
necessary)

7. Important Notes for All Applicants


Important Notes about APOSTILLE Requirements
Since July 14, 2007, the Republic of Korea has been part of the 1961 Hague Convention
establishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents. The Convention
provides for the simplified certification or public (including notarized) documents to be used
in countries that have joined the convention. The Apostille ensures that public documents
issued in one signatory country will be recognized as valid in another signatory country.
Applicants whose country is the member of Apostille Convention(104 country members) can
submit Apostille verified documents(Graduation Certificate and Transcript) while applicants
from non Apostille member countries should turn in the documents certified by Korean
Embassy or Consulate located in foreign countries.

1) SeoulTech does not generally acknowledge international schools located in Korea as


foreign schools.
2) All documents should be in English or Korean. Documents in another language should
be accompanied by a notarized English translation.
3) Basically all documents must be original. Should original documents be unavailable,
copies must be authorized by the originating institution before they are submitted.
4) A letter of recommendation must be sealed in an envelope signed on the rear flap by the
recommender.
5) Students whose graduations were pending at other institutions during the time of
application should submit their Graduation Certificates and the Certificates of their
degrees to their departments within 15 days after their enrollment at SeoulTech. Failure
to submit this document may revoke the admission offer.
6) Applicants who will receive a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree should submit proof
of their upcoming graduation or a certificate of studentship. Failure to submit Certificate
of bachelor’s degree or master’s degree within 15 days after their enrollment at
SeoulTech may revoke the admission offer.
7) Transcripts and Certificates from Chinese universities MUST be accompanied by
verification from the China Academic Degree & Graduate Education Development
Center. Refer to the website [Link]
8) Undergraduate transfer applicants and all applicants of Korean origin must submit the
entire record of their Certificate of Entry and Exit issued by Korea Immigration. In cases
of submission of false or unverifiable information (especially those resulting from
multiple passport handling) or failure to submit all of the requisite records may adversely
affect one’s candidacy for acceptance.

9) All transfer applicants who have completed at least two years of a degree program at a
four-year university must submit documentation that verifies that their current institution
is equivalent to a four-year university.
10) Foreign students whose parents are not citizens of Korea should submit official
documents indicating parent-child relationship between the applicant and his/her parents
from the students’ government.
11) Be sure to make and keep photocopies of all completed forms. Submitted documents
become property of SeoulTech and will not be returned to the applicants.
12) Applicants take full responsibility for any problems that might arise due to mistakes
and/or omissions on any application material. If it turns out that submitted documents are
fake, offer of admission will be revoked.
13) Those applicants who were previously admitted to SeoulTech through international
admissions and intend to apply to a Master's or Doctoral program are exempt
from submitting the following: Official certificates of graduation and transcripts from
schools and/or universities outside of Korea. Applicants exempt from submitting any of
the above documents should submit the Certificate of Attendance or Graduation at
SeoulTech instead.
14) Admissions scores remain undisclosed.
15) Korean citizens who hold dual citizenship are considered as ‘Applicants of Korean
Origin’ and they are not eligible to apply as foreign students.
16) When students who completed their entire education outside of Korean and one or both
of their parents are Korean apply for freshman undergraduate programs, each applicant is
allowed to apply up to six times a year. Application received seventh or after in time
sequence will be cancelled and also admission offer will be revoked.
17) All the international students should purchase medical insurance when entering into
Korea after admitted. (You may get health insurance personally or you can request any
insurance information to Office of International Affairs.)

an F grade, and the graduate recipients must complete 6 credits at least with C grades or above.
