Conditional Sentences
Type 2 ( Second Conditional)

Presente Irreal

The second conditional is used to talk about things which are unreal ( not true or possible) ) in the
present or the future - things which don’t or won´t happen.

Form

In these conditional sentences we have two clauses, an “if “ clause and a main clause.
If clause is in simple past and the main clause has the auxiliary modal verb would, could.

Examples:

If I had a lot of money, I would buy a new car.


If I were you, I would drive more carefully in the rain.
If we weren’t in quarantine, we would be at school.

Exercise I

Make second conditional.

1.- If I __were__ you, I __would get ____ a new job. ( be / get)

2.- If he ___were ___younger, he __would travel____ more . ( be/ travel)

3.- If we __weren´t ___ friends, I __would be ____angry with you. ( not / be / be)

4.- If I __had __ enough money , I __would buy___ a big house . ( have / buy)

5.- If she _____weren´t __ always so late , she ___would be ____ promoted. ( not / be / be)
