Impact of Plastics on Ar-arusip Agriculture

This document discusses a study on the impact of plastics on agricultural areas in Ar-arusip Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. It provides background on the large amounts of plastic waste found in agricultural areas. The objectives are to understand the issues of plastic impact, identify negative effects, analyze damage, and understand possible effects. The significance is to educate people on plastic's effects. The scope is limited to Ar-arusip Badoc's agricultural areas and impacts of plastic that remains in fields and contaminates crops.

PLASTICS IMPACT ON THE AGRICULTURAL AREAS OF AR-ARUSIP BADOC, ILOCOS NORTE

INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

Plastic are attacked from all directions as being a plastics for the environment.
Nowadays, we’re all using plastics in our everyday lives. As more plastic will be use the more
plastic is.
Plastics drink bottles are one of the largest plastic litter issues. Relate to drinking straws
and grocery store plastic. This particularly, can be seen on the side of the road closely in the
Agricultural areas of the road closely in the Agricultural areas.
Plastics cause damages to the growth of agriculture. Plastics cause a large scale negative
impact on the global agricultural sectors. People throw plastics everywhere as and when they
like and as an unavoidable consequence these discarded plastics will ultimately find their ways
to agricultural fields mixed with other decomposed materials. As plastic do not decompose with
soil they remain in the agricultural lands and block as well retard the progress of growth of
agricultural plants. Plastics have that inherent property that even though very thin, roots of
crops fail to Pierce them in order to move around the soil for natural nutrients. Thus, plastics
have cause tremendous harm to the growth of agricultural produces. ()
On the other hand, some research says plastics has a positive effect on agricultural
areas, because plastic nitrites the land area. The growth of plants become more aggressive or
productive.
Agricultural plastics area significant contribution of solid waste disposal problems,
particularly in areas with heavy use of plastic covered greenhouses or mulch films. Field burning
and landfilling are no longer viable options for disposal in many areas. (D. Hemphill Jr.)
Presence of plastics in soil had largely been overlooked. This research may be done
elsewhere. However, this locality of Badoc, Ilocos Norte has never been a study in the past
decades.
Objectives of the Study

The overall goal of this study is to comprehend the impact of plastics on the Agricultural Areas
of Ar-arusip Badoc, Ilocos Norte.
Specifically, the study to:
1. To have knowledge on the issue of plastic impact on the agricultural areas
2. To be able to know the negative effects of plastics
3. To analyze the damaging impact of plastics
4. To be able to know the possible effects of plastics impact on agricultural areas

Significance of the Study

This study aims to educate every individual’s plastics on the Agriculture Areas. This
study is important for us to know what the plastic produces in our agricultural areas. And it is
important to know how we will manage those plastics.

Scope and limitation of the Study

This study will be conducted only on the agricultural areas of Ar-arusip Badoc,Ilocos
Norte and it focusses on the impact of plastics that is dump on the field, stays on the land for a
long period of time causes the crops to contaminate and the growth of plants in this area.
Definition of Terms

Plastics- a synthetic material made from a wide range of organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC,
nylon, etc., that can be molded into shape while soft and then set into a rigid or slightly elastic form.

Impact- something has on a situation, process, or person is a sudden and powerful effect that it

has on them.
Crops- a cultivated plant that is grown as food, especially a grain, fruit, or vegetable.
Polyethylene - a polymer of ethylene; especially: any of various partially crystalline lightweight
thermoplastics (CH2CH2) x that are resistant to chemicals and moisture, have good insulating
properties, and are used especially in packaging and insulation
PVC- a plastic material that is used for many purposes, for example to make clothing or shoes
or to cover chairs. PVC is an abbreviation for 'polyvinyl chloride
Retard- Delay or hold back in terms of progress or development
Tremendous- very great in amount, scale, or intensity.

Plastic Pollution-involves the accumulation of plastic products in the environment that adversely
affects wildlife, wildlife habitat, or humans.

Agricultural Land-is typically land devoted to agriculture, the systematic and controlled use of other
forms of life—particularly the rearing of livestock and production of crops—to produce food for humans.
It is thus generally synonymous with both farmland or cropland, as well as pasture or rangeland.

Aggressive- making an all-out effort to win or succeed

Dump- to put down or drop something heavy without caring where it goes, or to get rid of something
or someone no longer wanted
