Letters were issued to neighbours prior to site commencement which incorporated CCS registration details
and contact information. Separate pedestrian and vehicular gates have been formed off public highway. A
number of car parking spaces have been formed within site boundary for operatives with remainder parking in

delivery vehicles reversing into site and guided by a banksman. Temporary warning signage has been
erected on approach road. A smoking shelter with a roof and an ash bin is available with solid screening to
elevation facing road. Visitors are requested to sign in and escorted whilst on site.
A site specific environmental plan has been prepared with information included in inductions and displayed on
notice board. A waste management plan has also been organised with materials stock piled and deposited in
separate skips for segregation with monthly reports received from the waste transfer sub contractor confirming
recycled quantities. Temporary protection has been erected around trees. Heras fencing has been erected to

shine downwards into site and are operated by dawn to dusk sensors. Oil is stored in a double bunded
container with a drip tray and spill kit available. The Company is developing carbon footprint monitoring and a
supply chain charter to partner suppliers and sub contractors with a number of local contractors employed on
the project.
Welfare facilities are cleaned weekly by a visiting cleaner and maintained daily by site labourer and appeared
presentable at time of visit with a deb board and boot scrapers supplied. Road sweepers are engaged weekly.
Materials are stored in set down areas or containers with plant parked adjacent site offices at nights.
3. Cleanliness 4 Operatives are encouraged to maintain good housekeeping and not to drop litter through inductions and
notices. Vehicles are checked for cleanliness and office and canteen waste paper, bottles, cans and plastics
are collected and returned to head office for recycling.
Any compliments and complaints received would be recorded on CCS form with operatives informed of any
complimentary comments and complaints investigated and resolved by the site manager with support from

Personnel visiting local shops at breaks remove PPE and return to eat in canteen. A clean supply of PPE is
provided for visitors.
A site specific safety plan has been prepared is updated through risk assessments and monthly audits are
completed by visiting Health and Safety Consultant. Head office support and information is supplied through
Company intranet. A separate hardcore footpath has been formed to access site offices with directional

and safety information is provided through informal chats and a health and safety caption competition has
been organised by the Site Manager with a prize for the best entry.
The nearest hospital with A & E facilities is advised at inductions and displayed on notice boards. Two first
aiders are based on site and identified at inductions and notice boards. Sub contractor qualified first aiders are

conditions and next of kin. Manned security guards are supplied at weekends by a sub contractor.
The Site Manager was very aware of scheme requirements and the Company’s principal CCS contact also
attended the site visit. Monthly management meetings are held at head office with CCS included as a
separate topic. A CCS banner and poster is displayed at site entrance with a link included to the scheme’s
website from the Company’s website. Scheme information is also included in the Company’s regular
8. Accountable 5 newsletters and the Scheme principal contact has a Twitter account with 80 followers and one tweeting
support for scheme during the site visit. Site personnel, sub contractors, consultants and the Client are all
aware of site registration. Training is supplied through fortnightly tool box talks. CCS information is stored in a
separate site specific folder.
Total (out of 40): 34 Summary and conclusions
The site appears to create a very professional image with a dedicated pedestrian gate formed in steel palisade fence and CCS banner,
posters and Company branding. The Company has actively embraced and promotes the scheme to personnel and Clients through
Newsletters, links to scheme website from their website and Twitter account.
