Target

Being safe is something to look up to when performing any type of physical


activity. It goes to show that an activity is worth remembering and fulfilling if we
end safely. Another thing to look at is your behavior; the way you act will determine
how meaningful an activity is achieved.

In your previous lesson, safety protocols in performing physical activities


were observed and different health risks that may arise have been identified.

This learning material will provide you with information and activities that
will help you understand and perform the proper behavior while doing physical
activities and how to use equipment properly.

After going through this learning material, you are expected to:
1. Demonstrates proper etiquette and safety in the use of facilities and
equipment. (PEH12FH-Ia-t-12)

What is etiquette?
According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, etiquette is the conduct or
procedure required by good breeding or prescribed by authority to be observed in
social or official life.
When you participate in the different types of dancing, you still need various
equipment, facilities and proper etiquette to perform it safely. Etiquette is
necessary in these kinds of events because it will show how you deal with people,
with situations and with the activity itself. On the other hand, knowing the proper
utilization of equipment and facilities will help you participate productively and
efficiently.
Proper Etiquette and Safety in the Use of Facilities and Equipment

1. Wear the right attire and footwear.


2. Sanitize first and organize the equipment and facilities to be used.
3. Use the equipment and facilities according to its specification.
4. Make sure that the activity area is clean and organized.
5. Always be mindful of your environment.
6. Participate with discipline and respect.
7. Check the temperature of the activity area.
8. Do warm-ups first.
9. Always smile and be friendly.
10. Bring back all the equipment after you use them.

In participating recreational activities, it is important to have a facilitator or


spotter. A facilitator or a spotter plays an important role in the execution of the
activities. He/She leads the preparation and organization of the activity and guide
the participants although out the organized event.

Always remember to drink a glass of water 15-20


minutes before performing a physical activity.
