Communication Technology (ICT) services. The company originates from a leveraged management
buyout of Geveke Electronics NV and was taken public by its privately held owner SHV Holdings NV in
1985. Following its initial public offering, the company adopted a strategy of aggressive expansion
through internal growth, acquisitions, and strategic investments. Between 1985 and 1999, Getronics
managed to double its sales and earnings every three years, on average. In 1999, the company turned
from a moderate player in the European ICT industry into one of the world’s largest ICT service providers
through its acquisition of US-based Wang Global. This acquisition more than doubled Getronics’
revenues (from E1.5 billion to E3.7 billion) and almost tripled the company’s employee base.
