Why I chose this topic:
Textbooks only take a survey view of the consequences of the Paris Peace
Conference of 1919 and its effects post World War I era. I wanted to have a better
indepth understanding of ongoings the Paris Peace Conference and the decisions made by
just four people that decided the fate for millions. How did they agree on the Treaty of
Versailles and what causes Orlando of Italy to leave the conference? Questions like the
previous urged me on into picking my topic of the Paris Peace Conference of 1919.
How I conducted my research:
Considering the textbook only had an overview of information, I looked for
pictures and primary sources through Ebscost online and then I went to my school and
local library to obtain a more indepth understanding of the event leading up to the Paris
Peace Conference of 1919 and the events after it. I also looked for critiques of the Treaty
of Versailles and economic information of Germany that would cause public opinion to
reject he Weimar Republic and cause Adolf Hitler to rise to power. The internet was a
main source for speeches by Hitler that helps show the power he had over the German
people and why they were willing to listen to him. I also had to study the world wide
effects of the Great Depression and how it hit Germany the hardest. This related to the
enormous amounts of reparations that Germany had to pay back.
How I created and developed my website:
I first stated with an outline that was to transfer into my pages on the weebly
website. I figured a website would give me a better way of presenting all the information
I needed considering I wanted lots of media that consisted of speeches made by Hitler
and Woodrow Wilson. I tried to learn some of the encoding of CSS through the internet
and a fellow transfer student where her school required her to take a class about it. By
understanding the website encoding Weebly was easier to use and create. By website
therefore had a custom theme and interactive portions that, to me contributed to the
overall theme of my project.
How my project relates to this years theme:
The Paris Peace Conference of 1919 was one of the most hotly debated events of
diplomacy in the 20th century. The Paris Peace Conference of 1919 e held all three areas
of this years topic; the Paris Peace Conference of 1919 success in ending World War I,
failure of preventing World War II, and Economic and political consequences of the
reparation policy put into effect by the Big Four at the Paris Peace Conference.
