REFLECTION

Health is very important and is well known to everyone. Without good health we won’t be
living long and happily. Good health keeps you working and you are mentally and physically
active to achieve life goals. Life is meant to live long and happily, caring and helping others.
Health is very important in the Philippines and also conservation of life.

Before I was assigned in the CDRRMC during my OJT I have witnessed on how they really
prepare themselves to reduce the damage caused by natural hazards like earthquakes, floods,
droughts and cyclones, through an ethic of prevention. I really learned a lot during my work
immersion. I learned that disaster is different from hazards. Hazard are always present in a
community, however, hazard become disaster whenever care and precaution are not taken and
considered. For example in a community that is coastal area which is near a fault line. Hazard
are only a risk of harm and these can be prevented to be disaster through effective planning and
coordination of people in the community. I think this is one of the problem in our community
lack of coordination. Both participation from the people and government are needed in this
system to produce effective result. Lack of coordination and lack of proper dissemination will
make this system work ineffective. I’m really thankful I was assigned in the CDRRMC because I
have learned many things regarding basic life support which very important during emergency
situations especially whenever there is no one informed with a basic life support and that’s the
time you can apply everything you have learned.
