New draining system: VARI-DRAIN
VARI-DRAIN-SYSTEM
Application:
The VARI-DRAIN-System offers the possibility to remove frequently arising,
unwanted cords, known as cat scratches, which are caused by corrosion of
refractory material in
furnace tank, working end or forehearth continuously or discontinuously.

Application: forehearth, in short distance to the spout
Working range: variable from 0,1 tpd to 0,5 tpd / 5 – 20 kg/h
A VARI-DRAIN-System, applicated in a forehearth near to the spout helps to
improve the glass quality and therefore the profit of this particular production line.
Technology:
The bottom glass is gathering, due to it´s
higher specific weight, in the deepened area (1)
of the special drain block. For starting up the
drain-system the heating module (3) is
heated by electrical power. After the glass in
the outlet hole (2) is heated up it starts to
flow through the outlet nozzle.
The quantity can be regulated by additional
cooling air (4).
Draining quantity:
The output of the drain system is depending on glasstype -colour and -
temperature in the area above the draining point as well as on the diameter of the
nozzle in the nozzle disc.
The diameter of the nozzle determines the maximum output and has to be
adjusted on prevailing requirements of the customer.
The quantity of output can be regulated by temperature regulation and/or cooling
air.
The outlet nozzle temperature is measured by a thermocouple an maintained at a
constant value by a control system.
A turned off heating mudule and/or fully opened cooling air is enough to freeze
the glass within minutes.
Installation:
Depending on the requirements of the customer, drain systems are integrated in
the conception of new plants. An Installation during a furnace campaign is
possible also.
