Software reuse is very common especially for engineer and programmer.
It is known
as code reuse, software reuse is where the usage of current software that is available or
knowledge to build new software. The new software is being created by arranged the
available component or the component that already being used before by others and do
modification. The purpose is to allow the new software able to provide the users with a better
function, more faster and cheaper cost in the progress. By adopting the available resources,
programmer will be able to rebuild a new concept and function according to the needs. We
are living in the world of technology, that’s why the world become more convenient compare
to before and of course, people expect things to get effective. By having software reuse, they
can make the production process faster and make the customer feel the product earlier. Then
the data can be reuse so people will not redo the work many times, instead just using the
previous resources.
As for AMSB company, they are starting to enter e-commerce in 2007 and they
provide the business to be able sell their product in 2 ways. Which is from business to
business and business to customer. This is very effective for their sales because by using the
system, they are able to reach the right customer. By using business to customer system, they
are able to sell the product to the consumer. The market potential of business to customer is
wider compare to business to business. Where the number of potential customer we cannot
assume and almost no limitation for the potential market. Just imagine that what kind of
product that can be sell to millions of people in this world and this is what we mean by no
limit.
Business to customer allow the company to be able to sell the product in large and
mass quantity, so the system can makes the sales easier and allow the company to get more
sales. As for business to business, they mostly target the business and company. Where the
target market is usually businessman and the prospect is smaller compare to business to
customer. It is because the number of businessman is smaller compare to number of
consumer of the product. Also business to business have a smaller potential because the sales
must be more specific. As for the price is more expensive compare to business to customer.
We can see AMSB is a household product company, of course the target market is very wide
because the product is being used by almost all household. It is a must for them to enter e-
commerce especially nowadays women loves to do online search for the product and do
comparison. So by having those system, they can increase their sales not only by offline, but
also by online.
Based on the study case, since the pandemic of COVID-19, lockdown enable people
to stay at home and do shopping online more than offline. Not to mention there are many
shops that closed due to no customer and e-commerce gain popularity a lot since the
pandemic. So to handle the online customer, it needs system. Good things is, with the help of
these system, they are able to make the business growing and sales are coming everyday. But
the main problem is, the current AS400 system that AMSB company used is not effective
compare to the latest system. Where AS400 is the IBM system for multiuser and this allow a
single computer to interact with many other PC.
It is true that using AS400 helps AMSB company but it is not effective enough. The
system of sales for AS400 is not up to date and the data still haven’t real-time basis. Why it is
still inefficient because manual process is still needed here. While the latest system is already
real-time and at the second the buyer purchase the product from seller, automatically the
seller system will appear the buyer and the stock will be automatically deducted. At the time
when the seller re-stock the product, the buyer can see directly also at that second that the
stock is being updated. AS400 still need to do manual and the result is a lot of mistake
happen here. The workload by having these mistake is being doubled where firstly they need
to manually record the transaction, and then second if there is mistake, they need to recheck
and redo the transaction. Where as a businessman, it is wasting time, will do less sales and
there will be loss of trust from the client.
It will be a problem when a business is not giving the right data to the customer and
the image of the business is being ruined from this second. Imagine that when a buyer did a
transaction from a seller, then they already paid it but in the system it is still pending. After a
day, there is no record of the buyer already paid. Of course buyer will think that the seller is
not selling for real, instead of just taking money from people. As the result, there will be
complaint, bad issue and bad review from the customer. This will lead to the low review of
the company and the impact is not only for short term, but this can lead to long term if the
problem of the system is not being fixed, and the worst case is bankrupt. So for these study
case, AMSB company must do software reuse by upgrading the system to the real time basis.
It is no doubt that after upgrading to the real-time, then the progress of buying and selling
also the record will be much faster compare to before and this will give solution and
convenience to customer. This will allow the company to be in sync for stock, delivery and
information between business and customer where it can become competitive advantages.
By upgrading the software function and design, and create an online system that is
more accurate this will enable the business to be more effective. Using the previous system
and upgrade it, adding more code also add some requirement for the better of the system. For
software usage approach, AMSB company can use application frameworks approach. The
purpose is to help the e-commerce system in AMSB company be in sync. By adapting the
current software and system of AMSB e-commerce system, application framework develop
the system and we want it to become more sync real-time basis. This is very suitable for
online shop and the development of the system will be much easier. What will be added later
on for the system, it will be more updated data, design for the page, more convenient
payment and several support for the business. This will be an competitive advantages because
payment will become one of the main key for convenience in customer. Later on, the system
will make the online business page looks more attractive to customer and easier for customer
to discover the latest sales. So company can boost more sales for their business and hopefully
the B2B and B2C sales will go more smoothly. Not only that, there will be added security for
the e-commerce so safety will be ensure and trust will be given from customer to the
company.
So for AMSB company, they can use software reuse to update the current system that
they have to online system, more security, easier payment and attractive views to make the
online shop looks more attractive to customer. This will become one of the consideration for
the customer to visit AMSB company e-commerce and the rest will be the marketing job
inside the e-commerce to boost the sales. So it is very important for software reuse to develop
the current system to the next level so the system will be better, faster and even lower the cost
for the process.
