FORWARD FUSELAGE

GENERAL

The forward fuselage is the front part of the primary structure. The forward fuselage is a semi-
monocoque aluminum construction made of longerons, frames and sandwich panels; it mainly
provides the pilots cabin floor, interface with the cockpit, nose landing gear housing and supports the
canopy assembly. The canopy is a kevlar composite structure riveted to the forward fuselage. The
forward fuselage is part of the whole primary structure that includes also the center and rear fuselage;
subdivision is intended for convention only.

The forward fuselage is interfaced with the following main systems:

- Instrument panel/overhead panel/center console
- Landing gear.
- Electric power system.
- Engine controls.
- Hydraulic system.
- ECS.
- Flight controls.
- Avionics.
- Equipment and furnishing.
- Doors.
- Windows.

The forward fuselage is designed to provide the required safety conditions defined by:
- Crash loads producing controlled deformations without jeopardize occupants escape
- Natural frequencies out of main and tail rotor multiple frequencies
- Avoid ground resonance
- Sustain lighting effects
- Impact damage tolerance.

MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

The structure is maintained on an "on condition" basis with restoration only required in the event of
damage. No overhaul is required before a service life of 30 years and/or 25000 flight hours.

CENTER FUSELAGE

GENERAL

The center fuselage is the middle part of the primary structure. The center fuselage is a metallic semi-
monocoque construction made of aluminum sheet, beams, frames and sandwich panels; it mainly
provides the passengers cabin fuel, hydraulics, dynamic components, landing gear, flight controls and
engine installation.

The center fuselage is part of the whole primary structure that includes also the forward and rear
fuselage; subdivision is intended for convention only. The topside of the center fuselage is completed
with the upper deck/engine fairings and cowlings. The upper deck fairings are manufactured in
composite materials.

The center fuselage is interfaced with the following main systems:

- ECS
- Electrical system
- Main Rotor Drive
- Tail Rotor Drive
- Hydraulic system
- Landing gear
- Fuel system
- Engines installation
- Flight controls
- Equipment and furnishing
- Doors
- Windows.

The centre fuselage is designed to provide the required safety conditions defined by:
- Crash loads producing controlled deformations without jeopardize occupants escape
- Natural frequencies out of main and tail rotors multiple frequencies
- Avoid ground resonance
- Sustain lighting effects
- Impact damage tolerance
- Fireproof in fire critical areas.

MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

The structure is maintained on an "on condition" basis with restoration only required in the event of
damage. No overhaul is required before a service life of 30 years and/or 25000 flight hours.

REAR FUSELAGE

GENERAL

The rear fuselage is the rear part of the primary structure. The rear fuselage is a metallic semi-
monocoque construction made of aluminum sheet, beams, frames and sandwich panels; it mainly
provides the baggage compartment, the avionics installation and the engine installation. The rear
fuselage is part of the whole primary structure that includes also the forward and center fuselage;
subdivision is intended for convention only. The topside of the rear fuselage is completed with the
engine fairings and cowlings.

The rear fuselage is interfaced with the following main systems:

- Tail unit
- Electrical system
- Hydraulic system
- Tail Rotor Drive
- Engine installation
- Flight controls
- Avionics
- Doors.

The rear fuselage is designed to provide the required safety conditions defined by:
- Crash loads producing controlled deformations
- Natural frequencies out of main and tail rotors multiple frequencies
- Avoid ground resonance
- Sustain lighting effects
- Impact damage tolerance.

TAIL UNIT

DESCRIPTION

The tail unit is a aluminum semi-monocoque construction made from sheet, beams and frames; it
mainly supports the Tail Rotor Drive, flight controls, Tail Rotor and stabilizers installation. The tail
unit consists of a cone and a fin; subdivision is intended for convention only. The tail unit is
completed with the tail rotor drive fairings and the fin leading and trailing edge manufactured in
composite materials.

The tail unit is interfaced with the following main systems:

- Stabilizers
- Rear fuselage (primary structure)
- Hydraulic system
- Tail Rotor Drive
- Flight controls.

The tail unit is designed to provide the required safety conditions defined by:
- Crash loads producing controlled deformations
- Natural frequencies out of main and tail rotors multiple frequencies
- Avoid ground resonance
- Sustain lighting effects
- Impact damage tolerance.

MAINTENANCE INFORMATION

Before tail unit removal, it's required to:

- Remove Tail Rotor Drive Shaft 2
- Remove the Tail Rotor
- Remove Yaw flight control rod Y7
- Drain PCM 1 and PCM 2.

LEADING PARTICULARS

- Tail unit weight (only structure): 80.7 kg (178 Ib)

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Be careful when you remove / install the tail unit. The tail unit is heavy. An incorrect movement can
cause an injury to persons and / or damage to the equipment. Get a second person to help you during
removal/installation of the tail unit.
