16
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

The study is an exercise involving estimation of parameters

as regard to organizational requirements. Research was designed
so as to get the relevant information that can be used for various
purposes in the organization. The information is to be collected from
the different sources of data.

• Data Source:-

17
Two types of data were taken into consideration i.e., primary
and secondary data. But major emphasis was given on gathering
primary data. The secondary data was used only to supplement the
primary data and to make things clear.

• Primary Data:-
We took primary data by interview method which covered the
answering of questionnaires from people. We collected the data first
hand for the first time.

• Secondary Data:-

We consulted some books and previous project reports for

some topic like Introduction to the topic and also referred some
websites. We also took information from various people who are in
close touch with the consumers.

• Survey:-

The type of survey undertaken was that of sample type

keeping in consideration the time constraint and paraphernalia,
besides the viability of census survey, the sample survey thus being
taken to the right path to reach the desired destination was carefully
planed to convert all the operation by using selected samples.

• Statistical Tool:-

18
The tool for obtaining the information was questionnaire. A
structured questionnaire was administered. The questionnaire was
designed in the view both major and minor objective of study.

• Sampling:-

I used stratified sampling for collection of the data, where the whole
population is divided in small strata/groups and the samples are taken from
each group.

• Sample size:-
The sample size was taken to be 80 in the cluster population of
customer universe.

SUGGESTIONS

In the light of the findings of the study the following suggestions have been
found for the improvement of the Marketing Communication of Cellular
Service Providers.

1. The Cellular service Providers should increase the percentage of sales

to the private concerns.

2. The CSP’s should ensure the easy activation of Sim Cards.

3. The recharge coupon issued by CSP’s should be easily in the market.

4. There should be full talk time on easy recharge.

5. Maximum Towers should be set up by CSP’s for the good network

coverage.

40
CONCLUSION

From the survey regarding “Effectiveness and Impact of Marketing

Communication of Cellular Service Providers”. I concluded that the Airtel has
major impact on the people (Cellular Service Users) regarding effectiveness of
marketing communication of CSP’s. Airtel has covered almost whole of

41
Kashmir because of its effective marketing communication. Then comes the
number of BSNL followed by Aircel.
As we all know that, “Fittest will survive” but in the present context, it
has been modified as only the,“Fastest will survive”. So if any competitor to
Airtel (Aircel) has to use the second approach.

FINDINGS

• I found that the Airtel is providing better services to their customers

followed by AirCel.
• I found that Airtel is providing full talktime on its every recharge coupon
to their customers and Aircel is doing also well on the other hand.
• I found that there is an easy availability of Airtel sim cards in Kashmir
valley.
• I found that majority of the respondents believe that the Airtel spends
more on advertisements followed by Aircel.

42
• I found that majority of the respondents feel that Airtel has Best
programme services followed by Aircel.

Common questions

Powered by AI

Media diversity plays a significant role in marketing communication strategies as cellular service providers use various media such as TV, radio, newspapers, and the internet to reach different audience segments. The document notes that 40% of respondents suggest TV, 35% print media, and 15% radio for advertising, indicating the need for diverse media usage to effectively capture broad audience attention and enhance reach .

Airtel's marketing communication has had a significant impact as it is recognized as having the best marketing communication program by 45% of respondents, surpassing Aircel, BSNL, and others. This impact is attributed to Airtel's extensive advertisement spending and strategic communication efforts, positioning it as a market leader in Kashmir .

Customer care services appear to be highly influential on customer satisfaction, as 67% of respondents stated they inquire about new offers primarily through customer care. This indicates a strong reliance on and trust in customer care services for accurate and timely information regarding offers and services, suggesting its critical role in maintaining customer satisfaction .

Customers' choice of mobile connection is primarily influenced by service quality, as 40% cited better service as a deciding factor. Providers should prioritize improving network quality, customer service, and ensure the availability of comprehensive and valuable service packages. Aligning promotional messages with these factors will strengthen brand perception and attract more customers .

The joint venture between Maxis Communications Berhad of Malaysia and Apollo Hospital Enterprise Ltd of India allowed Aircel to utilize Maxis's extensive telecom expertise and Apollo's local market knowledge. This partnership facilitated Aircel's successful market entry and rapid growth in India, becoming the leading mobile operator in Tamil Nadu within 18 months. The joint venture enabled Aircel to expand rapidly to other regions, gaining a foothold in nine circles and subsequently receiving additional spectrum for more territories. This synergistic approach contributed significantly to Aircel's expansion strategy .

The primary objectives of the research include studying the marketing communication strategies of various cellular service providers in the Kashmir valley, identifying the communication media used to promote services, and assessing the impact of these strategies on end users. Additionally, the research aims to identify the most effective promotional tools used by these providers .

The document supports the importance of aligning marketing communication with service availability and network quality through several findings. It highlights Airtel's effective marketing communication as a key factor in its leading position in Kashmir, supported by easy availability of SIM cards and full talk time offers, which align with customer expectations for service reliability and value. This alignment is crucial in fostering customer loyalty and market share growth .

According to the document, 40% of respondents believed they received information about offers most frequently through SMS promotions. This suggests that SMS is an effective medium for conveying offers to customers quickly and directly, making it a preferred source of information for many respondents .

The competitive landscape in Kashmir is influenced heavily by marketing communication strategies, with Airtel leading due to its robust advertisement campaigns and strategic communication programs. It is perceived as spending more on marketing efforts, providing ample customer service options, and offering attractive deals, which bolster its competitive position against Aircel and BSNL, both lagging in perceived marketing efficacy by respondents .

The reliance on SMS as a primary information channel by respondents highlights its effectiveness and cost-efficiency for disseminating real-time offers and updates. For providers, this suggests a need to optimize SMS marketing strategies tailored to consumer preferences, enabling prompt and direct engagement, thereby improving customer retention and influence purchasing decisions .
