My Most Significant Learning in Principles of Marketing
Even though I have already taken this subject when I was in senior high, it is always fun
to take it because of the learning I can get related to what I am pursuing. Different topics and
chapters have been discussed and all of them were great but if I were to choose what topic I
learned significantly is the chapter that discussed consumer markets and buyer behavior. I think
it is very important for an existing business to know the behavior of their customers and
consumers. But first of all, we must know what consumer market is. It is the term for all
individuals and household that buy or acquire goods and services for personal consumption.
Differentiating it to the concept who are just buying it but they do not personally consume it. For
example, when customer is buying baby’s milk, we should assume that the customer is not the
baby but his or her parent. On the other hand, when customer is buying cellphone because his
or her cellphone is already outworn, we can assume that this customer might be under
consumer market. Understanding who will buy and who will consume is a factor to gain more
market share. I have learned that even those people that are not in the market buying goods
have a huge factor to the demand of a certain product. And lastly, I have learned that different
characteristics affecting consumer behavior is important to understand such as cultural, social,
personal, and psychological, in order for the business to have an efficient and effective
marketing strategy that will be adjusted based on the said characteristics.
