Script A: Good answer
Are you tired of computer games that are a waste of time? This one is great
fun and it also helps you enrich your vocabulary. I know that you must be
thinking this is another boring educational game. Well, think again! This is
exciting stuff – try it and you won’t want to stop!
At the beginning of the game, you are give some letters and you have to come
up with as many words as you can. It’s got wonderful visual effects, so the
words you write flashed and dance on the screen. You receive points for each
word, and when you collect a certain number of points, you move on to the
next level.
I would highly recommend this game to other readers for two reasons. First,
the game requires you to use your brain but it is not full of complicated rules.
Secondly, you can play this game alone - just you against the computer - or
you can have competitions with your friends. I am sure you’ll grow a fan of this
great game!

This answer is cleverly organised and written to attract the reader’s attention from the beginning. It
communicates the different points to the reader very successfully, with an appropriate semi-formal
style. The writer includes all the content required, describing the game clearly and giving some good
reasons why they would recommend it. The language is mostly accurate, with a few errors that do
not affect the reader’s understanding. It shows a range of structures and vocabulary.

Script B: Satisfactory answer
Everybody have already heard speaking about ‘The Sims’, a computer game
became famous a few years ago. If you’ve never tried it, it’s time to start!
‘The Sims’ is the most realistic computer game you can find. The principle is
simple: after having maked a family, you must build a house for them. There
are thousands options to personalise it. The colours of the walls, the ground’s
composition, the number and the size of the rooms, the selection of the
furniture you want to install, the way you want to organise their garden.
Then you give life to the personages you introduce in the house. And that’s
when the game becomes really interesting. You have to make sure they good
relations between each others. To sum up, I’d hardly recommend you to
discover this wonderful computer game because, actually, it is much more
than virtual, you’ll see.
Examiner comments
Although the writer has included all the content required, this piece is difficult to follow. This is a
clear example of a piece of writing that would have benefited by some planning and attention to
organisation. The second paragraph should have been divided into paragraphs. The piece is only
eight words above the minimum length, so it could have been longer. The language is generally
accurate, but there are some errors that impede communication.

Script C: Unsatisfactory answer
Have you every seen a famous footballer’s face in the game called ‘kick off’?
It seems to be real fantasy world as when he scored a goal, he looks really
fascinated and enjoyable.
Firstly, it is one of the most technological video games I have ever experienced
because there are a broad range of options such as if you wanted to bring up
the character yourself, you would create your own character. Besides, the
graphic will be the most wonderful part of this game. The pitch or football
fan’s atmosphere even if players’ feeling is really vivid. As well as you can
control them little things, for example, the weather conditioning, how often
get the injury for each character. And you would trade any players to any
teams if you wanted. So, being young would like to play football on such a
brilliant fantasy world, just switch on your computer and do it!

This article is badly organised, without paragraphs or clear linkers, so it would confuse the reader.
The writer has not provided the required content, for example there is an unclear description of the
game, so it has failed to communicate the information required. There are a number of language
errors, both in grammatical structures and vocabulary, which make the meaning unclear, for example
