SHOULD COLLEGE ATHLETES BE PAID?
Base on their contributions they bring to their school, athletes should be paid a certain
Percentage of the revenue they generate for the university. However, there are many conditions that
create controversy. People have spent several years creating policies that would satisfy everyone but to
no avail. Advocates for the payment of students possess their views, but opponents have differing views
that sneak into the spotlight. Athletes deserve to be paid due to their inability to obtain a job.
Athletes received monetary compensation for each game played, then would not be in as
much financial trouble. The second reason athletes should receive payment is a result of how much
revenue they bring to universities. Opponents may say universities spend more money on athletes than
general students, which is true, but the revenues out weigh the expenses tremendously. Players should
received a portion of the revenue they helped to bring in. Players should be giving a scholarship and
monthly allowance the university are giving then one by one. Being a player of the university are
working hard on the court because you carry the name of your university.
Since students athletes also bring in revenue for their team or university, especially in the
championship games. Yes, pay would vary, just as the universities with the more successful teams
receive more television time or money than those with less successful teams in the tournaments,
because their bring in the champion there team’s .It’s is unfair for athletes to not be paid while they
play, because like I said while ago they sacrifice all things to play and players should receive a portion of
the revenue for they everyday needs and athletes should be given a scholarship.
In discussion of compensation for college athletes, a particular point of disagreement has
been weather or not college athletes should be paid for their hard work. Some people argue that college
athletes have no time to work and therefore should be paid, while others contend that college athletes
already receive compensation by not having to pay for college tuition.
College athletes should get paid due to that fact that they have no time in academics,
because they are focusing in the practice if their team’s are competing in the championship games
because each one is busy to improve their individual role. So that each players are needed to be paid.
