Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hello, my name is Ms. Rangel, and I am so excited and grateful to be

teaching your child 7th grade English Language Arts this year! Please feel
free to email me with any questions or concerns you may have. You can also
schedule a parent teacher conference with me via the link on my weebly
page. All announcements, course materials, and agendas will be posted on
my class Weebly. What follows is important information regarding the
course and grading.

Required Materials:
● Computer
● Planner
● Pens
● Highlighters
● 3-ring binder with lined paper
● Notebook
Tutoring:
If you need extra help, I will be available on Zoom for drop-in tutoring.

Attendance:
Having good attendance is necessary for passing this class. This includes
required Zoom classes. Students will earn 5 participation points per Zoom
class they attend as long as their camera is on for the full session and they
are following the classroom and Zoom rules.

Late Work: I do not accept late work unless the student has an excused
absence (e.g., medical appointments and illness).

Students must turn in all late work by Friday of the date assigned.

Missed tests need to be completed within one week of the original test date.

Classroom Rules:
1. Be in class, prepared, and ready to work on time.
2. Be respectful, kind, and courteous of others and their property.
3. Side conversations end while others are talking.
4. If I see your phone, earbuds, or headphones, they must be removed.
5. Adhere to the classroom expectations set by your teacher.

ZOOM Rules:
1. Keep your camera on for the entire Zoom session, and mute yourself
unless told otherwise.
2. Wear your school uniform.
3. Attend each Zoom session, and earn participation points.
4. Participate in class discussions using appropriate language.
5. On days you are not attending a Zoom class, you are expected to
complete and submit the assigned independent work.

Consequences:
The following consequences will be given if a student breaks a rule:
● 1st offense: Verbal warning
● 2nd offense: Student-teacher conference
● 3rd offense: Phone call home
● 4th offense: Parent-teacher conference
● 5th offense: Phone call home, parent-teacher conference and referral to
office.

Plagiarism:
Using someone else’s work without proper acknowledgement is cheating
and is forbidden. Copying or paraphrasing material from the work of
another student, published sources, or from the internet will earn you a
zero on the assignment and a phone call home.
