E-Learning vs. Classroom Learning

E-learning provides education through electronic media and information technology, allowing students to study anywhere with an internet connection. While e-learning offers cost savings and flexibility, it also makes it harder for students to get immediate answers to questions or improve presentation skills compared to classroom learning. Therefore, e-learning cannot fully substitute classroom learning for primary and secondary education but may be a substitute after graduation when students can learn independently.

Is E-Learning a Substitute for Classroom Learning?

Good morning Maam. I am Debiprasad Ghosh. My UID is 20BCS1150.


So, Before talking about the comparison let us first discus about what E-learning is.
It is basically an interactive and user-friendly method of providing education with use of
electronic media and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).
In this COVID 19 pandemic situation, e-learning has become an important part of our
education. Now the question is that, can E learning be substituted by Classroom learning.

In favour of E learning, We can say that, (i) Through E-learning we can study from anywhere at
anytime. All we need is just a computer and internet connection. (ii) E-learning costs less than
classroom learning. (iii) Student takes whole responsibility of himself in learning process. So that
he becomes more confident. And (iv) Students will become more flexible with computer, which
is much essential in present generation.

The disadvantages of E learning are that (i) Through e learning, we cannot clarify our doubts
immediately. (ii) we cannot increase our presentation skills. (iii) Teachers in classroom can know
whether students understand the topic or not, and explains the topic clearly using general
examples. By E learning, it is quite difficult.

So, E-learning has its own advantages and disadvantages. I think that, It can’t be a substitute for
classroom learning up to graduation level. But after graduation level E-learning can be a
substitute for classroom learning.
