w plate of size 0.8mx0.8m and an inclined plane with angle of inclination 30◦ . The weight of
the square plate is 30 kgf and it slides down the inclined plane with the uniform velocity of
0.3m/s . the thickness of oil film is 1.5mm (16)
8. [Link] large plane surfaces are 2.4 cm apart . the space between the surfaces is filled with
glycerine . what force is required to drag a very thin plate of surface are 0.5m2 between the
two large plane surfaces at speed of 0.6m/sec
If i. the thin plate is in the middle of the two planes surfaces and
ii. The thin plane is at a distance of 0.8 cm from one of the plane surfaces.
Take dynamic viscosity of the glycerine =8.10x10-1 Ns/m2 (16)

b.i, Derive the equation for the surface tension of liquid droplet and liquid jet. (8)
ii, Calculate the capillary rise in a glass tube of 2.5 mm diameter when immersed vertically
in water and mercury. Take the surface tension 0.0725 N/m for water and 0.52 N/m for
mercury in contact with air. The specific gravity of mercury is given as 13.6 and angle of
contact=130◦ (8)
