LESSON TITLE:

B. Higher Education and Life Abroad

LESSON OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
1. Identify the significant events and people that influenced Rizal’s nationalistic
ideas as an adolescent and a young adult.
2. Identify the significant actions of Jose Rizal which shows his love for his
motherland.
3. To relate to the experiences of Rizal as a student and draw inspiration from it.

TIME FRAME: 4.5 hours

INTRODUCTION/ OVERVIEW:

In continuation to the previous lesson, this part of the chapter highlights the
significant events on the young life of Jose Rizal and the influences that molds the
nationalism of Jose Rizal. It covers his formal education here in the Philippines and
abroad. The students will also discover for themselves why and how Rizal lived the
foreign land after he finished his education.

Direction: Read and analyze the quotes below. Reflect and internalized the message
that they convey.

express? Do you agree or disagree with the author/s’ ideas? Which

Direction: Trace the educational journey of Jose Rizal from the Philippines and
abroad. Take note of the following:
1. reasons why he aims for higher education;
2. challenges that he encountered and how he overcome them;
3. his achievements; and,
4. the significant people he encountered along this journey and how they
inspired/ influenced him.

Complete this task through any of the following: PowerPoint presentation, photo
album with captions, manga/ comic script or portfolio.
