Report on a work experience programme
Introduction
The aim of this report is to outline my experience at the work programme in the
Magdeburg Hotel. In order to do so, I will describe the different tasks and activities
I have been taking part in, indicate the problems I encountered and make
recommendations to succeed in future programmes.
Tasks and activities
During the first week of my work experience programme, I stood at the reception,
greeted guests, and learned how to use room-booking programs. For the second
week, I was the hotel's administrator assistant and helped him with the main issues
in the administrative department. The third and fourth weeks focused on the
preparation and organization of various festive events in the hotel complex.
Problems
The main problems I faced were, first of all, excessive workload and excessive use
of working hours, which led me and my colleagues to feel worse and more
stressed. On the other hand, I noticed minor mistakes made by the call center staff,
and as a result there are difficulties in settling guests, which can turn into bad
feedback from visitors.
Recommendations and improvements
As a first measure, I would recommend is to hire additional staff to help reduce the
workload. Concerning organizing the work of the call center employees, I firmly
consider that listening to conversations and holding weekly meetings, raising this
issue, will effectively solve this problem.
