RMS Construction: Sally's Job Struggles

Sally took a new job in the entertainment industry thinking it would be easier than her previous construction job, but has found it more difficult dealing with the different personalities of her new subordinates. Her situation is not hopeless, however, as she just lacks experience in this new field. The advisor's first recommendation would be for Sally to address issues with her aunt, the boss, and try to build trust with employees before considering returning to her previous role in construction where she was more productive. Patience and understanding different people will be important for Sally to find success in either position.

Case 5. RMS CONSTRUCTION: I'll Be Back

   Questions:
   1. Do you think the situation is hopeless for Sally?
The situation of Sally is a bit despairing but she can still manage it. Sally thought that the
entertainment business is less difficult than her former job, little did she know, her present job
was worse than she could ever thought. The condition for Sally is not bleak. Sally was just
inexperienced and did not have enough expertise of working with current workers. She started
out in a smooth job which is why she's currently having a rough time coping with people who
have a different mentality than the first people she's worked with.

   2. What will be your advice her?

I will advise Sally to address the problem to her aunt, who is technically their boss, before
turning to the employees. Slowly, she could establish trust between her and her subordinates
because she can't change them immediately. Often, having a stronger relationship makes work
more productive and successful as they're more secure in taking orders along with their
relationship. If things didn’t go well even though she put a lot of effort in understanding her
new work, I will advise her to go back to her former job at the construction firm for she is more
productive in working with his uncle. She can ask her aunt to just hire another administrator,
one who is more experienced in entertainment business. Sally must know how to cooperate
and communicate with different level of people; she must have patience in dealing with her
subordinates. Moreover, after doing the things she ought to do and still fail to work well with
her new job, she can resign and go back to her former job at Mr. Pascual. Her experience with
entertainment business might be bad but it has taught her lessons that she could use to grow
as a person. She needs to understand that before you get a job, you must know first how it will
be, what kind, and who are the people and employees you are dealing with. You better know
the situation firs before finally entering into that job.
