Micro-Teaching Assignment Guidelines

This document provides instructions for a micro-teaching assignment at the Vocational Training Development Institute. Students will work in groups to develop and present a 30-minute science lesson. The lesson will be assessed based on criteria in four areas: 1) application of learning theories, 2) application of the science approach, 3) teaching strategies, and 4) use of resources. For each area there are 10 criteria that will be rated on a 5-point scale. Peer reviewers will provide comments and scores in each area to evaluate how well the lesson meets the specified standards. The assignment is due between December 14-19, 2020.

1. For a specific target group and topic, develop a plan for a thirty (30) minute lesson. (The plan may be
vetted before teaching)

2. Team members will implement their plan at the appointed time.

3. Each non- teaching peer will review the teaching episode based on specific criteria identified on
checklists.
