Directions: Fill in each part of the App Lesson with your own original ideas.

Please look at the


sample provided on the class website. Provide 3 to 4 apps/steps for students to complete along
with a creative title, helpful description, and relevant SC teaching standards.

 There must be one app per step.

 Android apps can be used as long as all included apps are from the same platform.
 Lessons must cohesively link together 3 to 4 apps going from one focus/step of the lesson
to another.
 Lessons may include direct instruction provided the lecture contents are explained.
 Lessons may utilize web browser apps like Chrome or Safari to access website-based
tools. Link to the website in the write-up and the web browser app in the iTunes web link
area.
 The final step in lessons must have students create a learning artifact from a creation-
based app (presentation, video, etc.) or screenshot of progress from a skill-based app
that students would submit to the teacher for assessment.

Title: Introduction to Academic Writing with Famous Authors

Relevant SC Standards:

Standard 8: Interpret and analyze the author’s use of words, phrases, text features,
conventions, and structures, and how their relationships shape meaning and tone in
print and multimedia texts.

Learning Objectives:

 Students will be able to distinguish the use of sentences, words, text, and depth
used by authors in print

 Students will be able to discuss in detail the different forms or types of writing an
author uses

 Students will be able to compare different styles of writing and interpret the
meaning behind the author’s writing
Description: This app lesson will develop and enhance 2-3rd grade students’ English,
writing, and vocabulary understanding. This material will mainly focus on improving
their grammar and writing skills. As well as learn about different forms of vocabulary
they can use to make their writing more interesting.

Instructional Objective: Students will be able to write informative sentences and


learn to pick up on little grammatical errors that they may have in their own writing.
They will be reading short passages and then be asked to have a discussion about what
they read, as well as information about the authors.

Step 1 Content-Based or Skill-Based App: Students will use Quizlet to learn about the
different kinds of books they will be reading and what genre goes with what book

Step 2 Content-Based or Skill-Based App: Students will learn to get better at reading


and learn to pick out what the grammatical errors are, and also learn how they can
improve their reading on their own time. Plus this will make it fun for them.

Progress): This is where students will use the Google App to search up famous authors
or book titles that they would like to do a report on, or just take home to read and show
their parents what they learned in class.
