The pandemic underscored significant gaps in mental health services, such as accessibility, affordability, and tailored support for diverse needs of young adults. The rise in reported stress and anxiety indicates a need for expanded telehealth services, increased mental health funding, and more inclusive programs considering the unique social and economic contexts of young adults. Strengthening these services could bridge the gap and provide more effective support .

Young adults reported sexuality concerns such as identity exploration, relationship dynamics, and intimacy issues intensified by pandemic conditions like isolation and stress. Counseling services can address these by providing safe spaces for discussion, validation, and support for sexual identity exploration, and by facilitating communication skills for maintaining healthy relationships. Tailored counseling can help in processing these challenges in a constructive manner .

Educational disruptions, such as the shift to online learning, have significantly impacted the mental health of young adults in higher education. The sudden change exacerbated feelings of anxiety due to increased screen time, lack of personal interaction, and irregular study routines. Students have reported heightened stress over academic performance and future career prospects, highlighting the need for mental health resources tailored to address these educational challenges .

Religious affiliation can play a significant role in coping strategies as it often provides community support and emotional relief through shared beliefs and practices. Young adults involved in religious communities might experience better mental health outcomes due to structured support systems and regular communal activities that offer stability and meaning during uncertain times. The effectiveness of religious involvement depends on individual beliefs and the community's ability to provide supportive resources and interventions .

Increased engagement in virtual and computer-related activities during the pandemic correlates with a rise in gambling tendencies among young adults. The shift to online platforms for social interaction and entertainment has blurred lines, leading to increased exposure to online gambling. The stress and boredom associated with pandemic restrictions have further exacerbated this trend, highlighting the need for awareness and educational initiatives to combat potential gambling problems .

The pandemic strained personal relationships, causing increased tension with family and partners due to prolonged periods of close contact and stress from external issues. This situation has highlighted the need for accessible mental health services to address these strains. Counseling services must consider these implications for improving family dynamics and relationship counseling, offering targeted support for common pandemic-related stressors .

Young adults resort to a variety of coping mechanisms such as engaging in online communities, exercise, and developing new hobbies. These strategies vary in effectiveness based on individual preferences and resources. For instance, individuals who engage in consistent physical activity often report better stress management, whereas those who lack social support might find online communities more beneficial. This mixed-methods approach to coping suggests personalized plans could enhance overall well-being .

Young adults faced emotional turmoil such as stress, depression, and anxiety during the pandemic. These emotional struggles stem from isolation, uncertainty about the future, and disrupted routines. Counseling is necessary to provide structured support, coping strategies, and professional guidance to navigate these emotions effectively, preventing long-term mental health issues .

Young adults reported various issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, and relationship problems during the pandemic. The survey suggests a correlation between socio-economic status and the prevalence of these issues, as those from lower socio-economic backgrounds might experience higher stress levels due to financial instability. Educational background also plays a role; for instance, students struggling with online learning might face more anxiety compared to those not in educational institutions .

Substance abuse among young adults increased during the pandemic, driven by stress, depression, and limited social activities. Factors such as isolation, boredom, and access to substances like alcohol and tobacco have contributed to higher usage rates. Young adults from lower socio-economic backgrounds may also turn to substances as coping mechanisms for financial pressures and lack of constructive outlets .
