Narrative Report

When I heard that Grade 12 students will have an immersion I feel so glad

and excited at the same time because I know that having an immersion will help

me in the future. I know that it will gives me opportunity to learn more and

experience new and different things. I see myself finishing my work and

requirements that my boss gave me. I also see myself sharing my knowledge

and experience in my work immersion.

In our first day of immersion, I was so excited and curious because I don’t

know what I’m going to do in my work immersion place as well I feel so nervous

because I feel that our supervisor is strict but as he introduced his self, I feel that

he is generous and considerate.

In our work immersion, our supervisor orient us about safety and

equipment’s that we will use. Our supervisor told us that we should wear

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) so that we can prevent any injuries and be

safe in any hazard. He discussed about the Do’s and Don’ts in our work

immersion site. He discussed about the uses of different machines and

equipment that we will be use. After discussing, we round and observe in our

work immersion site.

After the discussion and observation about the different machines, our

supervisor teach and show us how to use the different machines. He teach us

about the different position such as flat position, over-head position, vertical

position, and etc. our supervisor told us that after finishing all the work and

14
activities, we should always gather and clean all the equipment and put it in the

safe place.

In our second week of our work immersion, our supervisor teach us

technique in welding and he ask us to have a welding practices for us to

experience. He also teach us the proper way of welding to prevent any hazard

and injury. In practice welding in horizontal position. We also help the workers in

our work immersion site to gather and arranged the metals in our site. After that,

we grind and weld the metal works and we help the workers again. Our

supervisor also teach us the proper welding in multi pass. After doing those

activities, we gather and clean all the machines and equipment. After the days

passed, our tasks and activities are still the same.

I conclude that our work immersion helps us to be have patience for all the

activities that will be given by our teachers/supervisor. They give us knowledge

and experience in terms of metal works. I can say that this immersion helps me

to be more responsible in my daily life.

Reflection Paper on Work Immersion Duty

I have learned many things that can help me on the future during my work

immersion days. I will admit that work immersion is not that easy. Bigger

adjustments are needed to cope up with the new environment. I have realized

that we have learned new things during our work immersion.

From my first day to the last day of my immersion in Metal Spark 614

Services I have observed the basics of welding and the proper way of grinding

metals. I also learned the proper way to handle the grinder in a safer way. From

my observation I have learned those skills from our supervisor. I learned welding

in a better and easier way.

As a student, this kind of opportunity is not that easy. It is hard to manage

time between school and work immersion duty. I have learned to socialize and

help my co-workers. Whenever I need some help I immediately ask my co-

workers and whenever they need my help I help them with all my best I can be.

In every work immersion day, I always did my best to satisfy our supervisor.

Everyone expected us to behave in right way. We should be more matured in our

work immersion duty.

Lastly, the learning that I have learned will help me in my future job. Work

Immersion serves as the practice of my future job. It helps me to become familiar

with do’s and don’ts in work place. The attitude that I developed makes me to

become more matured to face the things with boosting confidence.
