The Law and Human Rights Ministry's Immigration Directorate General has
received a travel ban issuance request from the Corruption Eradication
Commission (KPK) for bribery suspect and Indonesian Democratic Party of
Struggle (PDI-P) politician Harun Masiku. 

"We received the [request] letter yesterday," immigration spokesperson Arvin


Gumilang said on Tuesday as quoted by Antara. 
Harun, who ran in the 2019 legislative elections, has been accused of bribing
General Elections Commission (KPU) member Wahyu Setiawan with the
intention of influencing the commission's decision about a replacement for
deceased PDI-P politician and House legislator-elect Nazarudin Kiemas.

KPK investigators are still looking for Harun, who Arvin says was in Singapore
when the antigraft body named him a suspect last Thursday. 

Arvin said the travel ban request would still be processed even though Harun was
already outside the country. 

"We still accept the letter even though it’s not relevant right now. It will be useful
to detect [Harun] when he returns [to Indonesia]," Arvin said. 

According to the directorate general's records, Harun left Indonesia for Singapore
on Jan. 6 through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. 

KPK chairman Firli Bahuri said the commission had coordinated with law
enforcement and immigration officials to locate Harun. 

"We are still searching for [Harun] and continue to work hard to apprehend him,"
he said on Monday. 

The graft busters initially detained eight people in two separate operations on
Wednesday and Thursday in Jakarta, Depok, West Java and Banyumas, Central
Java.

The KPK has named four people suspects in the case, including Wahyu and
former Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) member Agustiani Tio Fridelina
as alleged recipients in the case. Harun and a man from the private sector named
Saeful were accused of being the bribe givers. They were charged under the
2001 Corruption Law. (kmt)
