Tips on writing the coursework report

• Top page
• Title: The title does not have to be long but needs to provide a clear picture
of what is to be covered. You are asked to ‘Evaluate the economic
performance and competitiveness of London as a global city in comparison
with New York or Hong Kong.’
• These are samples of the title
1. economic performance and competitiveness of London as a global city
2. London as a global city
3. Comparing London and New York as a global cities

• Your name: include your name


• Word count: show total word count (this should only include the words from
Introduction to Conclusion) Do not include top page, contents and references,
Summary and appendices. Limit: 2000 word +/- 10%
• Page (i) Executive Summary (250 words, not included
in count)
• As indicated executive summary should not exceed 250 words
• These short videos (less than 5 minutes) provide good information on
executive summary

coursework brief ‘You must supply full references for all your sources;
you should aim to provide at 10-15 good academic sources (journal
articles or books).
• Also the university prefers the Harvard style of writing references.
