1. Internet security

Internet security is a branch of computer security specifically related to not only Internet, often
involving browser security and the World Wide Web, but also network security as it applies to
other applications or operating systems as a whole. Its objective is to establish rules and measures
to use against attacks over the Internet. The Internet represents an insecure channel for
exchanging information, which leads to a high risk of intrusion or fraud, such as phishing, online
viruses, trojans, worms and more.

Many methods are used to protect the transfer of data, including encryption and from the ground
up engineering. The current focus is on prevention as much as on real time protection against well
known and new threats.

2. What is Malicious Software?

The words “Malicious Software” coin the word “Malware” and the meaning remains the same.
Malicious Software refers to any malicious program that causes harm to a computer system or
network. Malicious Malware Software attacks a computer or network in the form of viruses,
worms, trojans, spyware, adware or rootkits.

Their mission is often targeted at accomplishing unlawful tasks such as robbing protected data,
deleting confidential documents or add software without the user consent.
3. Different Types of Malicious Software

3.1. Computer Virus

A computer virus is a malicious software which self-replicates and attaches itself to other
files/programs. It is capable of executing secretly when the host program/file is activated. The
different types of Computer virus are Memory-Resident Virus, Program File Virus, Boot Sector
Virus, Stealth Virus, Macro Virus, and Email Virus.

3.2. Worms

A worm is a malicious software which similar to that of a computer virus is a self-replicating

program, however, in the case of worms, it automatically executes itself. Worms spread over a
network and are capable of launching a cumbersome and destructive attack within a short period.

3.3. Trojan Horses

Unlike a computer virus or a worm – the trojan horse is a non-replicating program that appears
legitimate. After gaining the trust, it secretly performs malicious and illicit activities when
executed. Hackers make use of trojan horses to steal a user’s password information, destroy data
or programs on the hard disk. It is hard to detect.

3.4. Spyware/Adware

Spyware secretly records information about a user and forwards it to third parties. The
information gathered may cover files accessed on the computer, a user’s online activities or even
user’s keystrokes.

Adware as the name interprets displays advertising banners while a program is running. Adware
can also work like spyware, it is deployed to gather confidential information. Basically, to spy on
and gather information from a victim’s computer.

3.5. Rootkit

A rootkit is a malicious software that alters the regular functionality of an OS on a computer in a

stealthy manner. The altering helps the hacker to take full control of the system and the hacker
acts as the system administrator on the victim’s system. Almost all the rootkits are designed to
hide their existence.
4. What is Antivirus Software?

Antivirus software is a program or set of programs that are designed to prevent, search for, detect,
and remove software viruses, and other malicious software like worms, trojans, adware, and
more.

5. Password Manager

A password manager is a software application that is used to store and manage the passwords that
a user has for various online accounts and security features. Password managers store the
passwords in an encrypted format and provide secure access to all the password information with
the help of a master password.

There are many types of password managers, differing in the way they encrypt the information,
type of storage and the additional features provided.

6. security suite

A collection of software utilities that protect a user's computer from viruses and other malware.
Managed by a single control panel interface that displays all the functions, antivirus and firewall
are typically the primary elements. Other functions include antispam, parental controls, website
authentication, password storage and protection against identity theft. Backup and computer
tune-up may also be part of the collection.
7. What is hacking?

Hacking refers to activities that seek to compromise digital devices, such as computers,
smartphones, tablets, and even entire networks. And while hacking might not always be for
malicious purposes, nowadays most references to hacking, and hackers, characterize it/them as
unlawful activity by cybercriminals—motivated by financial gain, protest, information gathering
(spying), and even just for the “fun” of the challenge.

Many think that “hacker” refers to some self-taught whiz kid or rogue programmer skilled at
modifying computer hardware or software so it can be used in ways outside the original
developers' intent. But this is a narrow view that doesn't begin to encompass the wide range of
reasons why someone turns to hacking

7.1. Types of hacking/hackers

Broadly speaking, you can say that hackers attempt to break into computers and networks for any
of four reasons.

 There's criminal financial gain, meaning the theft of credit card numbers or defrauding
banking systems.

 Next, gaining street cred and burnishing one's reputation within hacker subculture
motivates some hackers as they leave their mark on websites they vandalize as proof that
they pulled off the hack.

 Then there's corporate espionage, when one company's hackers seek to steal information
on a competitor's products and services to gain a marketplace advantage.

 Finally, entire nations engage in state-sponsored hacking to steal business and/or national
intelligence, to destabilize their adversaries' infrastructure, or even to sow discord and
confusion in the target country. (There's consensus that China and Russia have carried out
such attacks, including one on [Link]. In addition, the recent attacks on the
Democratic National Committee [DNC] made the news in a big way—especially after
Microsoft says hackers accused of hacking into the Democratic National Committee have
exploited previously undisclosed flaws in Microsoft's Windows operating system and
Adobe Systems' Flash software. There are also instances of hacking courtesy of the United
States government.)
There's even another category of cybercriminals: the hacker who is politically or socially motivated
for some cause. Such hacker-activists, or “hacktivists,” strive to focus public attention on an issue
by garnering unflattering attention on the target—usually by making sensitive information public.
For notable hacktivist groups, along with some of their more famous undertakings, see
Anonymous, WikiLeaks, and LulzSec.

8. Hacking prevention

If your computer, tablet, or phone is at the bull's-eye of the hacker's target, then surround it with
concentric rings of precautions.

First and foremost, download a reliable anti-malware product (or app for the phone), which can
both detect and neutralize malware and block connections to malicious phishing websites. Of
course, whether you're on Windows, Android, a Mac, an iPhone, or in a business network.
