CRPC Sections 36-45 Overview

Sections 36 to 45 of the Criminal Procedure Code outline provisions regarding assistance to authorities, the duty to report crimes, arrest procedures, and the establishment of police control rooms. The sections mandate that individuals must provide information to authorities about known crimes and allow for warrantless arrests of proclaimed offenders. When making arrests, authorities must inform the arrested person of their right to have a friend or relative notified. Control rooms must be established in every district and at the state level to collect and display information about arrests, including names of those arrested and the arresting officers. The sections also grant rights to arrested individuals, such as the right to meet with an advocate of their choice during interrogation.
