INTODUCTION
Fiber is basically a material which consists of hair-like strand where the
threads can be knitted and weaved together to form a clothing material. Fibers are
very flexible and occur naturally from both animals and plants. Cotton, silk, fur and
wool are example of natural fibers which made up from animals and plants. However,
there are also manufactured fibers or manmade which are made from many types of
chemicals which is combination of polymers or small molecules such as petroleum-
based chemicals. Example of manmade or synthetic fibers are nylon, polyester and
rayon. Synthetic fibers have so many benefit such as it is very durable and easily
available compared to natural fibers [1].
In forensic chemistry, fibers also plays an important role in criminal where it
can becomes evidence in a case. Fibers are also a form of trace evidence where it can
be transferred from victim to suspect or otherwise which it always occur in most cases
such as homicide and sexual offenses. The detail of fibers and weapons used to tear
the fibers must be identified by forensic chemist. Every weapons used must produced
different kind of tear and damage where it have to be extinguished from the fibers.
Example of weapons that may be used by suspect of criminal are chopper knife, razor
and hard object that will leave effect on the fibers.
