Subject: SUGGESTED MATERIALS FOR THE CONDUCT OF SCHOOL-BASED
ORIENTATION SEMINAR ON THE ROLE OF PARENTS IN DISTANCE
LEARNING CUM ORIENTATION ON THE USE OF ADM-SLM
AND DISTANCE LEARNING CONTRACT AND
MONITORING TOOLS
Date: August 7, 2020
1. School Year (SY) 2020-2021 will commence on August 24, 2020 as stated in DepED Order No. 7,
s. of 2020, “School Calendar and Activities for SY 2020-2021”. However, the days in August prior
to the formal school opening will be used to provide learners with assignments to explore
foundational topics for deepening during the year, orientation on the utilization of alternative
learning delivery modalities and corresponding learners’ materials, and mental health and
psychosocial support activities.
2. In line with these preparations for the opening of classes, this office issues suggested materials
for the conduct of “School-Based Orientation Seminar on the Role of Parents in Distance
Learning cum Orientation on the Use of ADM-SLM and Distance Learning Contract and
Monitoring Tools”.
3. The said orientation seminar for parents shall start on August 10, 2020 and will end on August 22,
2020. However, strict compliance with the minimum health standards issued by DepEd, consistent
with guidelines of the DOH, the IATF, and the OP shall be observed. (The school is empowered to
use the safest mode of the conduct of the activity).
4. The provision of this materials to school primarily aims to guide the School Heads on how to
properly conduct the school-based orientation seminar on the role of parents in distance
learning. Specifically, by the end of the activity, participants will be able to:
A. Understand the significant role of parents in distance learning;
B. Inculcate profound appreciation of the salient features of the distance learning;
C. Strengthen parent-school partnership; and

D. Apply the apt monitoring of children’s learning progress.
5. The suggested materials to be provided to the schools for the activity include:
a. Slide decks for the Role of Parents in Distance Learning
b. PPT on the suggested short Opening Program and School Calendar Activities
c. Sample Parent Contract for Distance Learning
d. Sample Monitoring Tool for Learner’s Progress
e. Other materials.
(Slide Decks/PPT and other materials will be made available to your respective EPS
adopter and District Head)
6. The EPS adopters and the Distrit Heads are hereby encouraged to do the monitoring and
evaluation and provide appropriate technical assitance to the schools before and during the
conduct of the activity. (Utmost consideration with the health protocols shall be observed).
7. Activity Completion Report (ACR) in e-copy on the conduct of the said activity shall be submitted
to the PSDS/DIC, and the District Head shall collect and collate the reports and submit the same
to the Office of the ASDS (or email it to [Link]@[Link]) not later than August 24,
2020.
8. Expenses to be incurred by the school related to this activity shall be charged to School MOOE
while expenditures of the monitoring team from the district and division offices shall be charged
against the Division MOOE subject to the usual auditing rules and regulations.
9. Immediate dissemination of and strict compliance with this Memorandum are highly desired.
