Rationale: I enjoy learning to use new technology but find it difficult to devote the time
needed to become proficient. By creating a technology-focused project, I am giving myself the
time and opportunity to pursue this personal and professional interest. I will also be better
equipped to teach my students these skills and how to use the platform. As well, in terms of
time-management, I think that developing and maintaining a classroom portal will actually
reduce the time that I currently need to spend helping students catch up when they are absent,
and I every time I create a classroom for a new course, I can use it as a template for a future
class. Lastly, if we do end up transitioning to on-line schooling again or a hybrid model, I will
already be “ahead of the game” and have some experience with what is required.
