Lesson: Assessment
Objective: Assess the learner’s capabilities in music, such as reading and notating basic notes
Task 1: Answer various question with regards to music
Task 2: Notate various musical symbol
Task 3: Listening activity

Assessments focus
1. Notes and rests – learner was still familiar with the basic notes but had a hard time
remembering the symbols for rests
2. Time signature – understands the basic concept of the time signature
3. Pitch – learner can still identify the pitch on the staff but needs to improve
4. Triads – can identify simple triad by analyzing the notes
5. Inversions – learner were not confused even the triad is in the 2 nd inversion
6. Intervals – learner were not familiar with interval
7. Chords – can identify the base chord but neglects the extensions
8. Dynamics – N/A
9. Tempo – N/A
10. Articulation – N/A
11. Musical expression – N/A
12. Bar line – learner is familiar with the use of bar line
13. Tonality – learner was able to identify 60% of the chords whether major or minor
14. Scale – learner was able to identify some of the major and minor scales
15. Rhythmic pattern – learner can sight read simple rhythmic pattern

Assessment:
The learner is capable of reading and notating simple music and eagers to learn more. For the
next topics, the learner must review the basic element of music, one concept at a time, to be able to
grasps the theory and concepts of each elements of music. The list below may serve as a guide to what
concepts the learner must give focus:

 Different kinds of notes and rests


 Rhythmic reading and dictation
 The staff
 Key signature and Scales
 Time signature and Meters
 Music Alterations
 Triads and Chords
 Ear Training

The learner will receive, at least, seven (7) meetings to be able to accomplish the list above.
