My Quarantine Life

My life before the pandemic was good and peaceful. We started our second semester in
the first week of February. We were so busy that time because we were preparing for our
immersion. It really saddened me that I was not with my friends and we have not seen each other
for how many days. I was only able to meet them last March 15 but it was also the day that the
government declared that we’re having an Enhanced Community Quarantine as part of the effort
to combat the spread of COVID19. I thought it would only last a few days but unfortunately it
was not. We did not get the chance to make the most of our senior years. It was also declared that
we will not have our graduation due to the pandemic. I regret that I did not get the chance to say
goodbye to my classmates, friends, and teachers.
For 5 months, I’m stuck at home doing everything I possibly can to make my quarantine
summer worthwhile, and fearing that the quarantine will consume up more time than I originally
thought. I did things that I don’t normally do like cooking and reading some interesting books
about Science. Most of the day, I spend it watching korean dramas and anime series because it is
the only way to help me cope up with my mental health. When online classes have started, I
thought it would be easier for me but after days have passed, I realized that it wasn’t. I’m
struggling with slow internet connection here in Marawi City. Online class is frustrating but I
don’t have a choice because this is the only solution that MSU can give. This is also my chance
to improve myself to be promoted in the Baccalaureate Program and spend my college in MSU.
Maybe after the pandemic ends, hopefully, I will go to a place, specifically on a beach, to ease
my mind after all the stress and frustrations that COVID-19 has caused me.
The COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed our lives. Nobody predicted that it
would kill so many people, force countries to lockdown, shut schools and public places and put
our lives on hold. Even wearing masks and distancing ourselves from everyone became the new
normal. The pandemic made me realize that life is very short and we should spend our time with
more important things than unnecessary things. We should make the most of it because we never
know what will happen in the future.
