Implementation of strategic management process on life
Before moving to implementation the strategic management process
on life, let us first have a look over the flow chart of general strategic
management process & a general explanation based on it.
The above process starts with establishing strategic
intent which includes some specific mission towards which all efforts
are directed . After this environmental analysis & organizational
analysis is done to find organizational “opportunity – threats “ &
“strength – weakness” respectively . In light of these analysis , long
term goals are being set . To achieve this long term goals , strategic
alternative should be identified in the light of strategic opportunities &
threats in next stage organization tries to choose the best strategy
which will be most acceptable . Once the creative & analytical aspect
of strategy formulation has been settled , the organization tries to
convert the strategy into something operationally effective.
In strategy implementation , various activities involved are
design of organization structure to suit the chosen strategy , effective
leadership , development of functional policies etc. In the last stage of
strategic control & feedback , there is a continuous monitoring of the
implementation of strategy so that suitable action is taken whenever
something goes wrong if something goes wrong , re-implementation of
strategy may be required.
Strategic management process on life
(related to career)
• The process goes in same manner as it is their in general SMP
discussed earlier
• The SMP on life with its stages are as follows :-
Stage : 1
[Establishing strategic intent]
Basically strategic intents are vision, mission, & goals &objectives.
A). Vision
The vision for my life is to see myself on that position where people
give my example as far as “top lecturer of the world” are concerned.
B). Mission :-
My mission is to thrive as the best lecturer in business field “ where in
I can contributed in developing & producing best brains in the world.
Goals & objectives will be discussed in further stages:
Stage :2
[ SWOT analysis ]
A). Internal analysis :
It consists of analysis of internal strengths & weakness.
My strengths are:
o Good intellectual level
o Strong desire to achieve targets
o Hard working
o Strong willpower
My weakness are:
o A bit pessimist
o Try to take things as a burden
B). External analysis:-
It consists of analysis of external threats & opportunities:
My opportunities consists of:
o Good family background
o Financial support for study
o Supporting & motivating parents
My single threats is:-
o Competition all around
Stage:3
[ setting long term goals]
As in the initial stage of my graduation level I have decide to go in
education field as a lecturer in good b-school , my long term goal is to
do “ P.H.D. In marketing ( especially outsourcing)” & to be a
specialized lecturer in the marketing field.
Stage: 4
[ Identifying alternative strategy]
Strategy -1
A). Completing graduation
B). Go for M.B.A programmed
C). Qualify for entrance test for lecturers
D). Go for a job as a teacher
E). Pursue P.H.D. Parallely with lecturer ship.
Strategy -2
A). Completing graduation
B). Go for 2 year work experience parallely with distance M.B.A
programme from a college or a university recognized under AICTE &
UGC
C). Qualify for entrance test for lecturers
D). Go for a job as a teacher
E). Pursue P.H.D. Parallely with lecturer ship.
Stage :5
[ Choice of strategy]
In the light of my mission, vision & goal, i would like to select
the strategic 2 – because ultimately in both the strategic i will able to
achieve my goal but the much important thing is “ experience” which i
would like to get from the very beginning so that thriving n the further
stages of my strategy become easy.
Stage: 6
[ Implementation of strategy]
As I have decide my strategy, I will implement it in following
manner:
Completing graduation :
As I am in B.B.A. Which includes so many subject & other
assignments. I would like to do time management so that each & every
task is given time & work should be doe accordingly.
Go for 2 year work experience + distance M.B.A:
This time management will be a part & parcel of every
stage of my strategy to get employed after B.B.A , will go for various
interviews in good companies & try to engage myself with the
company wherein I can utilize my knowledge To full extent & also
gain sufficient amount of experience simultaneously will plan to crack
distance level M.B.A entrance test – OPENMAT FOR IGNOU
Qualifying for entrance test to be a teacher :
After having done with above stage, will go for national as
well as state Level qualifying exams for teacher which is mandatory to
appear into. Efforts will be given in that area by referring to related
materials, magazines, newspaper etc.
Go for a job as a teacher
After qualifying, would like to go in reputed b- school in order
to fulfill my goal i.e. to be a lecturer.
Pursue P.H.D. Parallely with lecturer ship
So far my 50% job is done. Now my focus will be on
pursuing P.H.D. For this I would like to engage with the university
which could fulfill my following requirement:
A). Not too far from my job area i.e. It should be in same city
B). More importantly it should be such which could justify my mission &
vision.
Stage: 7
[Strategy control]
This is the last stage which deals with controlling the
strategy if deviating from the path
As earlier discussed that I will go for strategy 2 and if this
strategy won’t work than will shift to the strategy 1 for ex. For any
reason the new policy may come up that to be a lecturer after M.B.A.
The M.B.A. Must be done on “on the field’’ basis
In this scenario, my work experience & job won’t come up
into picture because I have to do M.B.A. Day being admitted into
college
However it is easier said than done but in that case I have to
reset my strategy & re-implement it by admitting into the college &
completing M.B.A & then follow the planned further stages of the
strategy.
