Rapid Application Development Methods Explained

The document discusses the research methods used in a study. It utilized rapid application development which allows for quick iterations and updates without needing to restart development each time. This allowed users to interact with prototypes and provide feedback to refine requirements. Questionnaires and internet research were used as data collection instruments. Convenience sampling was employed to select respondents from accessible computing students. Data analysis involved interpreting collected information to derive insights and tell the story of the research.

METHODS

Rapid Application Development (RAD) is a development model prioritizes rapid

prototyping and quick feedback over long drawn out development and testing cycles. With rapid

application development, developers can make multiple iterations and updates to a software

rapidly without needing to start a development schedule from scratch each time. The researchers

used this rapid application development methodology because it provided a system for the users

to interact with, even if it was not ready for wide-spread organizational use at first. It also

reassured the users that the researchers was working on the system, and it helped to more quickly

refine real system requirements. Rather than attempting to understand a system specification on

paper, the users were able to interact with the system and got a better understanding of what it

could and could not do. The methodology also helped in minimizing development costs, and

exposed the developer to future system enhancements.

Research Locale

This study was conducted at Don Honorio Ventura State University Bacolor Main

Campus. The proponents chose this place to help and contribute to the school premise. The study

has been implemented on the students of College of Computing Studies on the said school.

Research Design

Qualitative research is one of the most common yet, the most important method in order

to complete a research study. It is often used when investigating current product or idea
generation and development. This method was used to find some related topics regarding the

proposed system which served as the starting point of the researchers in collecting different

information needed.

Research Instruments/Data Collection

Questionnaires and Internet Research are the instruments that was used by the researchers

to achieve the requirements needed for the proposed study. This instruments are fact-finding

strategies that the researchers can use in collecting data for the proposed study.

Questionnaire

A questionnaire is a study tool consisting of a set of questions for the purpose of

collecting respondent data. It’s possible to think of questionnaires as a kind of written interview.

They can be carried out face to face, by telephone, computer or post. The proponents used the

questionnaires by means of computer and internet through Google Docs.

Internet Research

The researchers studied and investigated related literature and studies about solar

charging and RFID Security.

Population and Sampling

Non-probability sampling techniques are frequently appropriate for exploratory and

qualitative research. In these sort of research, the aim is not to test a theory about a wide

population, but to develop a primary understanding of a little or under-researched population.

Under non-probability sampling is the Convenience Sampling. A convenience sample essentially

incorporates the individuals who happened to be the most accessible to the researcher. It is a

simple and inexpensive way to collect initial data that is needed on the system.

This is the sampling technique used by the researchers in selecting the respondents and

gathering of information. The respondents of this study are the students of the College of

Computing Studies of Don Honorio Ventura State University. The proponents chose the

respondents based on the total number of the students. They were given a set of open ended

questionnaires that are needed in completing the system.

Data Analysis

According to LeCompte and Schensul, research data analysis is a process used by

researchers for reducing data to a story and interpreting it to derive insights. The data analysis

process helps in reducing a large chunk of data into smaller fragments, which makes sense. The

purpose of this study is to give convenience to the students of the College of Computing Studies

of Don Honorio Ventura State University in charging their gadgets with a high level of security.

And also, to maximize the use of non-renewable resources specifically the solar energy.
