Metric Modulation (Acceleration)
This example uses a Jazz Groove popularized by drummer Art Blakey.
The Modulation takes place in the Feet and then the ride cymbal follows to establish the new tempo.

Metric Modulation (Deceleration)
The next example uses the same groove as the first one, but reverses the process and slows down.
The Pivots are equal in that if you accelerate three times and then decelerate three times you will be
back at your original tempo.

Metric Modulation (Acceleration)
This example uses the traditional Jazz ride with ghosted notes as the groove.
The modulation takes place in the Hands and then the feet modulate to establish the new tempo.
The Paradiddlediddle sticking created by the hands leads the way so the modulation begins
on count 4 and then the new tempo is recognized on count 4.

Metric Modulation (Deceleration)
This last example reverses the acceleration process and uses the Jazz ride pattern to slow down.
The Paradiddlediddle again leads the way and then the feet change to establish the new tempo.
