Dorm Accommodation Appeal by Gerard Galang

Gerard Galang is requesting accommodation in the University of the Philippines - Diliman dormitories for the upcoming academic year. As a transferee student from Pampanga unfamiliar with Metro Manila, he has found housing outside the campus to be uncomfortable, noisy, dirty, lacking in security, and too far or expensive. Staying in the dormitories would provide convenience, cleanliness, affordability, safety, easy access to campus amenities, and a quiet study environment to support his success in the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics program. He has included all required application documents and contact information, hoping for a favorable response to his appeal.

Re: Dorm Accomodation Appeal Letter

Dear Dr. Guevarra,

I, Gerard Galang, a transferee from University of the Philippines – Diliman Extension Program in
Pampanga to University of the Philippines – Diliman taking up Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, am
requesting you to provide me the opportunity to appeal for granting a slot in accomodation of dorm for
first semester for the academic year 2019-2020 inside the campus.

I came from Angeles City in Pampanga and this is my first time to study outside my hometown and I am
not familiar with the places and surroundings around Metro Manila, especially outside Diliman. While I
am looking for my dorm outside the campus, I found out that some of those are not comfortable and the
place is noisy, dirty, and the people around in the area are not courteous, some doesn’t have any security
or roving guards, some are too far enough not to make it on time for my classes considering the traffic in
EDSA everyday, and some are too expensive. Hence, I am writing this letter of appeal for dorm
accomodation because of its convinience, cleanliness, and affordability especially that our income is
enough to pay for the monthly dues of the dorm. I already applied to your website and I consider Acacia
Residence Hall and Centennial 1 Residence Hall as my dorm choices. But if none of these choices will
be given, any available dormitory halls will do.

In addition, I want to have an accomodation of your dormitories in the campus because of its safety and
24/7 security, easy and convenient access to food stalls, carienderias, and establishments, book stores,
printing and photocopying services which is a great help in my studies, health facilities like UP Health
Service, jeepney terminals that will help me to travel around the campus everyday and saves time and
money, the staffs are accomodating and courteous, and the surroundings in the residences are quiet that
will make me more effecient on my studies.

In case you require any information from me, you can contact me on my mobile number 0995-439-5462
or e-mail me at gmgalang@[Link]. Attached in this letter are the complete requirements for dorm
application such as Printed Dorm Application, Copy of Grades in the last two semesters, and Certification
of Proof of Income. I hope it would help you in your decision.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to explain my circumstances. I will look forward to your
favorable response.

Sincerely,

Gerard M. Galang
