Acoustic Analysis of Raw Speech Data

The document discusses speech recognition techniques including acoustic models, sequential constraints, and signal analysis. Raw speech is sampled as a sequence of amplitude values over time. Signal analysis techniques extract useful features and compress the data without losing important information. The compressed speech is then used to train and test acoustic models with the goal of aligning signal frames with words in a recognized sequence.

Raw Speech :Speech is typically sampled at a high frequency ,e.g. 16KHz over a microphone
or 8 KHz over a [Link] yields a sequence of amplitude values over time.

Signal Analysis :(Raw speech should be initially transformed and compressed,in order to
simplify subsequent processing).Signal analysis techniques are available which can extract useful
features and compress the data by a factor of ten without losing any important information.
