“Anthropology is the study of human social
organization. It examines the cultural
patterns that have emerged as humans
settle in territories and among groups.”
Soco-Roda, Maria Andrea, Ph.D., Social
Sciences in Globalizing World
Interdisciplinary Perspectives for Filipino
Students, p.8., Sibs Publishing House,
Philippines
Historically, Filipinos were enslaved by
series of colonizers. One of those are the
Spaniards for 333 years. I guess it is more
than enough to adapt what were their
culture was. The culture of the organization
in the past still lingers in our blood.
In one of my picture presented, I, as a
“Sabungero”, I learned it from my father
and my father learned it from my
grandfather. It is not even difficult for me to
Anthropology know the mechanics of that bet game.
These cultural patterns have emerged and
settled onto us until we find it as our past
time. This remain to us as a culture. Frankly
saying, we are spending lots of money just
to bet on this and it makes us happy when
we are winning.
Filipinos always makes it sure to follow
what is the trend in the society. For some
instances, Filipinos are adapting also, to
what the nature dictates. As you can see,
the other picture shows our neighbor's
ancestral house. I can say that this was the
trend from the past centuries for I can see
this type of houses everywhere most
especially in Taal and in the history books.
Every houses before are made of light
materials. This only tells me how connected
the people before in their community. This
only signifies unity and contentment with
what they have compare to what we have
now.
Economics “Economics is the study of the ways that
scarce resources produced, used, and
distributed. It looks at how individuals
allocates and value resources, and how
markets and business institutions behave.”
Soco-Roda, Maria Andrea, Ph.D., Social
Sciences in Globalizing World
Interdisciplinary Perspectives for Filipino
Students, p.7., Sibs Publishing House,
Philippines
Linking the Economics in my everyday life,
it is always a challenge for us to weigh
which is important and not. It is like what
my picture shows. It is always a test for me
to choose what foods to eat. Is it going to
be my favorite or the most essential? It is
like comparing the needs and wants of
humans. This scene makes me realize
what to value most for all we know which
food I healthier and not, knowing the
Hierarchy of Needs of Abraham Maslow.
This depicts that we keep choosing things,
which is beneficial to us.
Another picture is the Piggy Bank Saving
thingy. We all know that life is
unpredictable. We should know how to
allocate clearly the limited resources most
especially our money. We should consider
what to spend for the needs, for the safety,
for the medicines and for the emergencies
most especially at this time of the
pandemic.
The last picture shows our farm in
Batangas. Proudly saying, this Family
Business is one of the producers of egg in
the Province. This supplies most of the
households in our district. Obviously,
economics plays a great role to our daily
lives. It teach us to be more appreciative
with what we have for we all know that not
everyone is capable to have any. We
should enrich for everything is limited.
History History is a study of the past, principally
how it relates to humans. It describes or
narrates and analyzes human activities in
the past and the changes that these had
undergone. In its broadest sense, history is
the totality of all past events.
Manebog, Jensen DG., “The Nine Social
Science Disciplines”, OurHappySchool,
Philippines, 2016
History may repeat but the learnings may
change to what awaits you in the present
and in the future.
Geographically, Batangas, is known for the
smallest Volcano, the controversial Taal
Volcano. It erupted many years ago and
ruined some of the establishments and
buildings in the surrounding of Bonbon
Lake. One of those building is to where I
am standing at; this is the OLD TAAL
Church. Behind me is St. Martin of Tours,
known for his bravery. This is symbolic. The
Old Church destroyed, but the spirit and the
memories gives faith to the citizen of the
Old Taal. Those were the days of darkness.
This history from the past tells us to be
ready anytime for natural calamities are
unpredictable. Just like now, we are in
threat again of this little Volcano. I hope
that no one is in harm.
On the other picture show where I’m at. It is
another establishment, full of memories and
facts, the National Museum. This really
proves how rich the Philippines is from way
back then. I guess putting Memorabilia in
the museum not only shows/signifies/honor
the past but to open up our minds to what
may history put in effective to our present
and future. We must appreciate the
challenges and learnings from the past
because this might answer conflicts in the
present and the future.
Political Science Political science is a social
science discipline that studies systems of
government, and the analysis
of political activity and behavior. It is the
systematic study of and reflection upon
politics.
Manebog, Jensen DG., “The Nine Social
Science Disciplines”, OurHappySchool,
Philippines, 2013
As a committed Filipino citizen, it is
necessary that we should abide the law
promulgated and what is stated in the
Constitution. Through this way, we can
contribute to the betterment of our society.
Let it be the system, follow the norms.
It is a commitment for us to be aware of
the political activity of the government
especially these challenging days.
In these pandemic times, many of the laws
promulgated to assure the safety of the
Filipino Citizens. As an example is the
protocol of the IATF, we must wear
protective devices to prevent ourselves
from the virus. As a good follower and a
future public servant, I comply for the
nations address. We should show concern
to our society to attain the all-time goals of
every nation, to be developed.
Another way of being concern is by reading
newspapers to be updated on what is going
on to our government most especially in
this pandemic times. The government again
challenges us. The ABS-CBN gone down.
The major public servants whom brings
news to people lost it in the air. Many of us
are lost on how to get updates. One of the
alternative and traditional way of coping is
to read bulletins and tabloids.
As a HUMSS student, it is automatic to
know more about our society, know its
systems and a like. I make sure that even I
could not watch the SONA of our leader on
live, I simply find time to watch it though it is
a replay. Through this means, ignorance
will be cured. Just like what Kuya Kim
always say, Iba na ang may alam.
Psychology Psychology sees behavior as resulting
primarily from the mental and emotional
processes of individuals.

One of the behavior of a person is, knowing
what is right or wrong. If you think right, you
can do right. Being a norm of the society, it
is necessary for every person to do well
and promote common goods, to do good
deeds. I am a low-key type of person. I may
appear to everyone as an affluent individual
but it never diminished as me being a
compassionate one. My parents thought
me that if there are in need and you can let
a hand, never hesitate to give. Those
behaviors and mindset comprises me. The
pictures shows my realizations of social
inequality. In my case, I could afford to buy
what I want from the time I desired to have
to. On the other hand, there are less
fortunate. It may be impossible for me to
give all our resources to them still I find
time and ways on how I may help them. We
tried to visit a home-for-the-aged and we
conducted a feeding program to them.
There were simple programs that will
somehow ease their sadness. This social
work is really fulfilling.
Another picture is, when I saw a kid who
cannot afford by her parent to send her in
school. Instead of giving foods or money to
her, I have decided to invite her in our
house, get permission to her parents, have
a simple walk to our farm and later engage
her to a tutorial. I may have insufficient
knowledge of how to handle and teach a
person but I know what my hearts wants for
her is much of a material good I can give to
her.
In another picture, is when we conducted a
program for the oldies in the Home for the
Aged in Bauan, Batangas. At first, there is
the nervousness in our hearts on how we
will mingle to the olds. But we think deeper,
we always promote common good, knows
our goals, to send happiness to the
sorrowful hearts. It may be a simple act but
bounty in essence. There were days that
we feel its endless, but when the dark days
come, even our shadow will leave us.
Lastly, as I have said a while ago, I am just
an ordinary person. I wanted to try
everything. Noticeably, the picture depicts
that I am trying to be a carpenter. 😅 My
heart and mind is with those who have
simple life. I love them. This is how I repay
for the good of others to me. Be a
considerate one.
Sociology Sociology is the study of groups and group
interactions, societies and social
interactions, from small and personal
groups to very large groups
OpenStax Rice University, “Introduction to
Sociology, p.6” , Openstax, 6100 Main
Street MS-375 Houston, Texas
Society comprises family, groups,
government, individuals and social
interactions.
Family is the basic unit of the society. I am
a person who is family oriented. It what
makes who I am now. The picture shows
my family, they are the reason why I
choose to wake up every day.
Wholeheartedly, I appreciate all the efforts
of my parents and my sister in guiding me
to the path to a better journey. They expose
me to in a playful society we are in so I can
learn and stand-alone when the time
comes. They let me grow to what I wanted
to be. I thank God for giving me a complete
unit of the society. I hope that I can also be
a good parent someday.
Being in this full package family, I think it is
also the reason why I am friendly. For until
now, my former classmates are still in touch
with me. I cherish them as a treasure for I
can count on to them when I need them the
most. Part of being a good citizen is having
good friends. They let you feel that sense of
belongingness that everyone is asking.
Society needs individuals who will take care
of the community. To address social or
environmental problem, my simple way to
contribute to the society is to be a lawful
one. It is necessary that you have to love
your surroundings by means of cleaning.
This is how I clean our farm. I must be the
shepherd of God’s Kingdom.
