20 mining firms that is being closed by DENR
1) OceanaGold Philippines Inc.
OceanaGold owns and operates Didipio Mine, a high grade gold-copper mine in
Nueva Vizcaya. Among the findings of the environment department include damages
to houses allegedly caused by blasting.

2) Marcventures Mining and Development Corp.
Marcventures Mining a is nickel mining company with operations in Mindanao. The
environment department said the firm has yet to implement the planting of three
million seedlings imposed as penalty for mining outside the area covered by its partial
Declaration of Mining Project Feasibility.

3) Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company
Lepanto produces gold from its mining operations in Benguet. Results of the
government audit showed the company committed four fatal and 11 lost-time
accidents and maintained an unregistered treatment, storage and disposal facility.

operations. The company has an abandoned open pit and an unregistered treatment,
storage and disposal facility, the environment department said.

department recommended the suspension of the company's operations after
committing several violations on the Clean Water Act and Forestry Code.

found to be operating without an approved three-year development and utilization
work program, the environment department said.

Strongbuilt Mining, a miner based in Cebu, violated certain provisions of the mining
and environmental laws, results of the government audit showed.
12) Sinosteel Philippines H.Y. Mining Corp.
Sinosteel failed to secure a tree cutting permit and violated certain terms and
conditions of the mineral production sharing agreement.
13) Oriental Synergy Mining Corp.
Oriental Synergy, which has mining sites in Surigao del Norte, failed to secure a
permit to cut down trees and failed to comply with its environmental certificate.
14) Wellex Mining Corp.
Publicly-listed Wellex Mining is the mining arm of the Wellex group of companies,
engaged in nickel, chromite, iron, and gold mining. The company was recommended
for suspension for having no ISO 14001 certification and violating a DENR
administrative order.
