Tylah has shown a good (Graduate) knowledge of how student learn. She has experimented in the classroom using
hands on activities, small group work, and individual intervention as well as adapting learning tasks/activities based on
the needs of the students. She has reflected on the classroom pedagogy and understands the needs of her learner and
applies the necessary strategies to support their learning. She has successfully used positive reinforcement, such as
Class Dojo, to encourage students and build strong, real connections with students.
Tylah can articulate theories of learning that influence her practice, after observation in the classroom using pedagogies
such as YuMI Deadly (Numeracy) and Gradual Release (Literacy). She has a good understanding of content has been
able to match to students’ levels well while teaching. She has good knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and has had
success in organising content with some sequential learning. Tylah has sought out resources from staff across the
school to help her in her planning and observations throughout her time at Kaurna Plains School.

Tylah very quickly established strong relationships with students and created a safe learning environment for the
students. She was able to easily use our CORKA values and Class Dojo to manage any challenging behaviour, however
her lessons were engaging and scaffolded well that challenging behaviour did not arise.
Tylah’s next step for PRAC 3 would be to begin experimenting with learning objectives in Mathematics and develop her
share and reflection time for students. Learning sequences that Tylah has planned have shown good structure and is
pitched at the appropriate level for the students. With great diversity of learning abilities in the classroom, differentiation
is very important for the success of all students, Tylah is beginning to show a good understanding of differentiation and
learner progress.
Although not many opportunities arose for Tylah to provide assessments, she was able to provide verbal feedback to
students immediately. She commented on students work during lesson time and challenged students thinking by
prompting them to explain their thinking.

Tylah engaged in professional discussions about her teaching and pedagogies. She sought out feedback and opinions
from many different staff across the school. Including Junior Primary Teachers and Literacy/Numeracy Coordinators.
She was involved in professional discussions around student achievement and progression in their learning.
During her placement period Tylah participated in professional training in Literacy – Quick Writes and YuMi Deadly
maths.

6) Professional Experience Context
Kaurna Plains School is a Reception to Year 12 Aboriginal school in the Elizabeth area. The Year 4 to Year 6 class has
two Year 6 students, 7 Year 5 students, 7 Year 4 students. We have one student who is from Burma and the rest of the
class identify as Aboriginal. There a range of needs in the classroom including both learning and behaviour needs.
Three students, two Year 5 students and one Year 4 student are on a NEP (Negotiated Education Plan) for intellectual
disability and speech. The class also has 3 students under the Guardianship of the Minister. There is one SSO (School
Support Officer) in the room from Wednesday - Friday to support with the NEP students, run small group work and
provide support to other students when required. The school is part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden project
and is also participating in the First Lego League competition which is integrated within their Science, Design and
Technology and HASS. The school has a strong focus and connection with Aboriginal culture. We encourage the use of
CORKA values (Cooperation, Organisation, Respect, Kindness and Acceptance).

7) Summative Comments by Supervising Teacher/s
Tylah has shown a strong commitment to developing her knowledge as a teacher throughout her placement. She has
shown initiative and actively engaged with the students in her class and endeavoured to establish strong, authentic
relationships with students. She has asked questions and experimented with different pedagogical approaches to
teacher Literacy and Numeracy. She is confident in using the Australian Curriculum and developing planners that assist
her with develop sequential learning opportunities. Over her time at Kaurna Plains School Tylah has continued to
develop her understanding of classroom management, behaviour management with a focus on reinforcement of positive
behaviour and differentiation. I encourage Tylah to continue to approach teaching with the passion and enthusiasm that
she has shown on her placement this year. I wish Tylah the best of luck for her future in teaching.
8) Summative Comments by Site Coordinator
Tylah has built positive and professional relationships with staff, students and the wider community at Kaurna Plains.
She has also attended Professional Development days and participated enthusiastically in these and staff training
sessions in the areas of Literacy & Numeracy. Tylah is a confident beginning teacher that has many endearing qualities
that students are able to build quick, positive and trusting relationships given our context and complexities of our site.
Tylah has done brilliantly in her second teaching practicum and I wish her all the best on her journey to becoming a
teacher.
