C2 LEVEL – STUDENTS HANDOUT
“English level C2 is the sixth and final level of English in the Common European
Framework of Reference (CEFR), a definition of different language levels written by the
Council of Europe. ... A well-educated native English speaker is technically at a C2

Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read. Can
summarise information from different spoken and written sources,
PROFICIENT reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent
C2
USER presentation. Can express him/herself spontaneously, very
fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning
even in more complex situations.

MATERIAL TO BE USED
We will be using, overall, authentic material from different sources such as news,
books, magazines, newspapers, Television, radio, media, talks...etc We will also be
using textbook units and Cambridge Proficiency material pertaining to the topics
object of the course, or / and / as extra-grammar practice. There is no textbook, but
there are some recommendations under the epigraph “Recommended Bibliography.”
Photocopies will be provided by the teacher. Most of this material will be duly
uploaded in Aula Cesga.
AULA CESGA
Enrol in Cesga so you can access background information about course requirements,
and other pertaining material. To enrol in Cesga you should have a login and a
password to access the platform. Once you have enrolled in Cesga, the course you are
looking for is C246 / and the password is: PROFICIENCY
EVALUATION
You will be evaluated in four different skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Mediation will be part of and embedded in your productive skills , and it will also be
one of the parameters that will amount to your being duly assessed in order to fulfill
the requirements for the course. The certification process will take place in June 2020
and your exam will presuppose a 100% of your mark. You must get a minimum of 15
in each of the skills in order to pass the course.
Contrariwise, we will sit mock exams in February that will provide guidance and
therefore, beckon you in your performance towards certification.
CLASSWORK: WRITING ASSESSMENTS and ORAL PRESENTATIONS
A number of writing assessments and oral presentations will be part of the
class dynamics. The teacher will inform you in advance of the above
mentioned presentations. Homework writing assignments must be uploaded
in Cesga within the established deadlines. All writing assessments should be
typed and double-spaced, with proper indentations, in Times New Roman (12).
They should be in Word editable versions (non-protected view).
Engage in debates and conversations in the class.
Please, use your mobiles only for academic purposes. Other uses are strictly
forbidden.
