Understanding the Graphics Gallery
The Gallery serves as a centralized storage area for graphics that can be
used in all Pronto projects. The Gallery exists of six parts.
Images: These images can be used as bevels, Firm keys, message box
tabs , text Listen-Watch- Control
Buttons: Buttons with different shapes and colors can be used for activities
on the control panel.

The Gallery serves as a centralized storage area for graphics that can be
used in all Pronto projects. The Gallery exists of six parts.
Backgrounds: These images can be used as background in portrait or
landscape size.
Pages : used pages can be stored in the Building blocks.

Understanding the Gallery - Terminology
• What is a BMP image or Bitmap?
This is an image where the size is defined
by pixels. Redefining/ changing the
format will change the definition.
Most used for images.

• What is a JPEG image?
A JPEG image is a compressed
color image that can be resized.
Most used for color photo’s.

• What is a PNG image?
A PNG image is a also a pixel image
but with the difference that these
can be made transparent. The
transparent part or Alpha Blending
can be made from 1 to 100%.

• Changing buttons on my page
You can change the image of a button in an existing XCF
file, without changing the action behind the button
– Open the Gallery
– Select the desired button in the category. (Blue highlighted)
– Press the “SHIFT” button and drag the button the button to be replaced.
– Only the image will be replaced, the action will remained.

• Changing the image of a button
• The image of the released and pressed state can be changed
• The released state image will define the size of the button
• You can insert your own images or you can select an image
from the Gallery
• “Use original size” will resize the image to original size.

• How to create transparent images for buttons?
• Use Photoshop or similar software for creating transparent
images (PNG) for buttons
99% transparency
DVD
• This will result in a “Push trough”; this means that the button
can’t be activated, because it is completely transparent (100%).
• The button can only be activated by pressing the border line or
the text.
• Setting the transparent part in Photoshop not on 100% but on
99% will solve the problem.

A very extensive gallery has been provided within the software for the
programmer
• Customized graphics can be added to the default graphics for
personalizing configurations to the particular customers
• The Gallery can be imported and exported to and from any programmer

Personalized images must be placed in the folder
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Philips\ProntoEdit
Professional 2.0\Gallery.
Extention: xxx_P. xxx = Image pressed state
xxx_R.xxx = Image released state

• The galleries you create can be exported & imported to and from any
programmer and as updates are provided from [Link]
• The Pronto gallery updates are why custom graphics should be
“separated” from default graphics—so they won’t be overwritten during
the update importing process

How to import and Export Galleries
Importing and Exporting of Galleries is required when updating to the
newest version.
NOTE: If you have not added any custom Graphics to the Gallery the following
steps are not necessary.
Updating the Factory supplied Gallery
In order to keep your custom additions and not duplicate any factory
supplied graphics, you can “Merge” or “Replace” an imported Gallery
• Merge: Add the Gallery to the existing one, only remove duplicates.
• Replace: Replace the complete Gallery by the imported Gallery.
IMPORTANT: custom Gallery will be overwritten.

1. The first step would be to export your gallery that has just been modified
and save it with a unique name that you will be able to find later.

• The “Channel Macro Wizard” will help us adding Infra Red
codes on the buttons.

The Channel Macro Wizard
• This will allow the user to press one button with the channel’s icon and
have the macro take them to the channel the user selected
• With the press of the Channel Macro icon, the macro is built for you
based on the channel number you’ve entered and the device codes you
need to use…you even tell the wizard if you have a beginning or end
string (ie ‘enter’/’select’ for channels or ‘disc’ for CD/DVD changers)

Sounds
• Sounds are one more way to customize the remote for your
customer…some may or may not want sounds, some may
want specific sounds (ie loud engines, crashing cars, etc.)
• Sounds can be useful to indicate that my audio/video
system is in the correct settings as wanted and that the
action is finished.
• Sounds can be useful to indicate the user that a button is
pressed, so he doesn’t have to look while pressing button
• The TSU9600 and the TSU9800 supports the use of WAV
files.
• The TSU9400 supports only beeps

Where to store
• There is a “Sound” folder where the WAV sound are located. Once you
have selected the WAV file and placed it in the specific directory, you
will be able to select it in the configuration.
The prontoEdit Professional does not be restarted.
• If the software is installed in the default directory, go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Philips\ProntoEdit Professional 2.0\Sounds
Important: If you share your XCF file,
don’t forget to copy the customized
WAV file (WAV files are not included
in XCF file).

What format
• With the TSU9400, you have the options
• With the TSU9600, having the option of WAV file sounds allows for
voice recordings, text-to-speech, WAV files from the web, etc.
• The WAV files for the TSU9600 need to be saved in the 44.1kHz, 16
Bit, Mono format…for those using Windows XP, Sound Recorder will
allow you to convert WAV files to this format

• When you select a button and select the properties, press the Add
Sounds icon, your WAV files will appear in a text box
• From this text box, you can sample the sounds before they are added to
the configuration

A sequence of different actions will be executed
automatically.
