Example of chemical energy
Wo
od: Combustion reaction converts chemical energy into light and heat.
Petroleum: Can be burned to release light and heat or changed into another
form of chemical energy, such as gasoline.
Example of mechanical energy
is another example of mechanical energy observed in everyday life. A dart gun works
on the principle of elastic potential energy.
Wind Mill
Windmills are the structures that convert wind energy into electrical energy and this
energy is then supplied to our homes.
Example of electrical energy
5. An electric stove plugged into a wall outlet uses the electrical energy to flow into
the burners on the stove top and as the electric charges pass through the burners the
electrical energy is converted into thermal energy.
6. Although used for light, an incandescent light bulb produces mostly thermal energy
(they get very hot) as it turns electrical energy into light by passing the electric
charges through a very tiny filament
Nuclear heat energy
1. A fission reaction at a nuclear power plant provides enough energy to give
electricity to large cities.
2. The fusion reaction in the sun provides our planet with all of the energy it needs for
living organisms to survive.
Example of solar heat energy
Water heating temperature: T8=60°C (Fig. 3.3)
Collector temperature: T1=T2=T3=120°C
Condensation temperature: T6=T9=20°C
