Anatomy of Special Senses Module

The document discusses the special senses - sight, smell, taste, hearing, and equilibrium. It defines the special senses as localized clusters of receptors or complex sensory organs, unlike the general senses of touch that are widely distributed. The special senses have distinct structures - the eyes and ears are large organs, while taste buds and the olfactory epithelium are clusters of receptors. The module will cover the functional anatomy and physiology of each special sense organ.

SPECIAL SENSES

We were told that we have five senses that keep us in touch with what is Learning Outcome
going on in the external world: touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing. At the end of the virtual classroom
Touch is a mixture of the general senses – the temperature, pressure and discussion, you will be able to:
✓ Define sensation.
