Structural Design Load Calculations

This document summarizes the design information and load assumptions for a building, including: 1) The design standards and codes followed are ASCE 7-05 for loading cases, ACI-2008 for concrete design, and BNBC 2017. 2) The dead and live loads are specified in tables, and other loads accounted for are wind, earthquake, and material strengths. 3) The load combinations for design according to the specified codes are listed. Checks for maximum lateral sway due to wind against code provisions are also specified.

(iii) Wind Load:
Exposure: Exposure B is considered
Importance factors: Gust factor, Gf= 0.85, Basic wind speed at Dhaka city, V = 65.7 m/s,
Directionality factor, Kd = 0.85(residential building), Wind importance factor, I= 1 and Case-01
is used to analyze and design the building

(iν) Earthquake Load:

Zone =2
Zone Co-efficient = 0.20 (for Dhaka)
Seismic Design Category (SDC) = C
Value of R (Response reduction factor) = 5
Seismic Base Shear Calculation
Site class: SD[ Table 6.2.13]
