DESIGN ANALYSIS
1 DOCUMENT PURPOSE
Purpose of this Technical Note is to present structure analysis for anode beam strength to
hold concrete. The beam supporting concrete slab shall have adequate strength with
certain safety factor to ensure its safe operation
2 INPUT DATA
2.1 EXTERNAL LOAD
External load acting on anode beam was calculated from concrete beam load and
seawater pressure load.
The weights and dimension of concrete slab as below
Item Dimension (L x W x H) (m) Quantity Weight (kg)
Concrete slab 2550 x 3300 x 0.175 4 3500

3 ANALYSIS METHODOLOGY
An analysis is performed using FEMAP software. Rigid body element was created to
simulate the concrete slab, External load acting on concrete slab was simulate by apply
the load at the center node of RBE2. As per LRFD method, maximum von mises stress
experience by the structure will be check against allowable von mises stress with material
factor 1.15.

5 CONCLUSION
From the analysis results, the maximum von mises stress is 22.04MPa. Result show
maximum von misses stress is below allowable von mises stress hence safety level of this
design is acceptable. The maximum deformation also satisfies the deflection criteria;
L/120 whereas cantilever beam length is 190mm. Result 0.0493mm is below the
deflection limit which is 0.525mm
