ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
Gulayan sa Paaralan Program for SY 2019-2020

I. INTRODUCTION
Nutritional deficiency, a growing concern among school-aged children,
affects their learning process. A recent survey of the food and nutrition
research institute showed that 25.5 percent of schoolchildren in the country
have nutritional deficiency.

Gulayan sa Paaralan, aims to raise public consciousness on health


and nutrition by planting vegetables in available spaces in schools. It also
seeks to supplement the food given to students in the school’s supplemental
feeding program.

Mangayon Elementary School, faithful to its vision of securing the


health status of its learners, duly implemented the guidelines of the
Department of Education in partnership with the Department of Agriculture.

II. HIGHLIGHTS

The following are the salient achievements of the implementation of the


Gulayan sa Paaralan Program (GPP) for SY 2019-2020, to wit:

 Inked partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the
establishment and sustainability of the program;
 Solidified linkage with Compostela Valley State College-Agriculture
Department for additional support of the GPP;
 Conducted several capacity building for teachers, parents, and the
community for technical assistance in vegetable planting and
maintenance through CVSC;
 Supplemented the feeding program of the school through Gulayan sa
Paaralan;
 Harvested vegetables for the feeding program;
 Generated income by selling harvested vegetables to potential buyers;
 Awarded parents, teachers, and stakeholders in recognition for their
efforts for the program;
 Connected with MAGRO-Compostela for the provision of seeds to be
planted;
 Participated in Municipal and Provincial Evaluation of Best School
Implementers of GPP; and
 Won first place in the municipal level and first runner up in the
provincial level.

III. ISSUES AND CONCERNS


Listed below are the identified issues for SY 2019-2020:

 To support the School Based Feeding Program for one hundred twenty
(120) days;

 To enhance the skills of each teacher, pupil, and parent to vegetable


gardening;

 More partner engagement; and


 Allotment of local funds to the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program.

IV. RECOMMENDATIONS
To improve even further the implementation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan
Program, the following points are provided:

 Allot funds for the Gulayan sa Paaralan Program;


 Enhance skills of teachers, pupils, and parents in vegetables;
 More partner engagement;
 Support school-based feeding program
