Course Title: CD Modalities and Approaches
Course Credit: 3 Units
Course Description: Community Development offers good number of modalities and approaches,
the students will be introduced to the diverse Community Development modalities i.e. Community
Participation, Integration and fulfillment of needs Evidence-based Community Development, etc.
and approaches i.e. commodity based approach, project approach, etc. The principles,
organizations, guidelines, and representation of each modality and each approach will be analyzed.
Categorization of development initiatives will also be introduced to students, i.e. extension service,
outreach, etc.

Learning Outcomes: Through the teaching-learning process, the students are able to:

1. Identify and delineate the different Modalities and Approaches and its purpose in
community development;
2. Cognitively develop students in terms of analyzing principles, organizations, guidelines,
and representation of each modality and each approach;
3. Classify the diverse development initiatives such as extension service and outreach; and
4. Analyze, plan, implement and evaluate the applicable modalities and approaches in
community development.
